Yes, briefly...then it led to this!!! Off Topic I know but Charlie Hill was quite the competitor. He could never go fast enough. The late Bob Parmer drove this one also, and they were the first of the breed in the 6's if memory serves me correctly. Either that or the first over 200. CRS.

The odd looking pickup is actually a rare Holdens built 1936 ute from Oz. The 1935 closed cab ute has a different shaped cab - more perpendicular. Note the suicide doors which are a hallmark of Aussie built Willys Model 77 closed cars.

Still my favorite '33 Willys. Thanks for the photo Dave. BTW,didn't it crash in the early 70's?

    Lee,

Don't know about at crash. As a matter of fact, there is a 33 Willys (highly modified) that I have seen at the YorkUS30 Reunion several times, that is suppossed to be the original Dirty Thirty. Hard to tell at this point, but that is what the owner says. Could very well be it.

The Filthy Forty 1940 Willys originally owned by the same Charlie Hill may be the crash you are thinking of. It was destroyed in the early 70's at Maple Grove by subsequent owners.

Another absolute GORGEOUS work of art... I saw pics of this car as it was going together...its a steel car and the work is true old time craftsmanship at its finest!

Dave...the '33 you referenced seeing at York wouldn't be this one, would it?

I may be getting the crash mixed up with the Filthy Forty. Didn't that roll at Maple Grove around 1972?

This car was owned by Dave Tucci. I think it's a glass car, and has been around since about 91 or 92. The old Dirty Thirty car is now a bright red, and sits extremely low. I believe both the front and rear fenders were raised to get it to sit so low. It seems like I may have a pic somewhere at home. If someone else doesn't post it, I'll try to dig it up tonight.

    Lee,

I'm not sure? The one I remember had the rear fenders moved way up on the body and was very much different from the traditional 33 Willys look. It's been several years since I've seen it. The owner had signs on it stating it was the "original Dirty Thirty". Maybe someone has photos of it from the York Show.

And yes, the Filthy Forty did crash at Maple Grove...early 70's.

The Nosse Willys is visually very close to the Terry Baker Willys built by Art and Mike Chrisman. The Terry Baker car I posted earlier in this thread also has a 520 ci dual plug blown and injected KB hemi and is an all steel car with a 1" chop and the most beautiful round tube chassis.

Thanks for posting a shot of our black Willys and the kind words guys Rocky....If I only would have known that the gassers were going to be so popular now..... I would have restored mine back like it was back in the late 60's,but the frame was already done in 1991. If I had to do it all over again it would have a nice chrome straight axle and leaf springs like in the original build pictures. I WILL make up for it though with my new project, as I found Charley Garretts old 39 Stude coupe gasser he raced in the 60's, (not a clone) ,and plan on building it back to race trim from the day.:D
Hope to see you guys at some of the shows this year. We will either have the 33 Willys or our Little Morris Panel truck.

This is what the Dirty Thirty looks like today. Not my first choice of what to do with a 33 Willys.

OUCH... If this really is the Dirty Thirty, its a shame it ended up like this. I know from experience that as a racer you do what you have to ......to compete.....but it really is sad to think a legendary icon ended up like this...

    Rocky

p.s. No disrespect intended to the current owners, I made the same
    mistake once too...

As rocky said no disrespect to the owners of the car but the dirty thirty was so cool. I guess if everyone had the same taste the world would be boring but i sure would like to turn back time.
