Well it's been awhile, the frame is out to the powder coater. Hope to get it back on Wed. I got the main body in dp-90 today, filled one fender, going with the stock tail lights.

  6. Says in the link that Brizio redid the car back to its early 70's color as it appeared in 1001 hot rods and customs magazine. Was a nice car and looks like it will be again. Hats off to you tingeazer for saving this one. Nice work. Pat.

  7. Awesome. Glad nobody was hurt....and the dedication to your craftmanship.

  8. I knew I should have kept that one to myself and made the winning bid, but my metalworking skill level is nowhere near what Tingeezers is. Glad I could point it out to a fellow HAMB member and glad to see the progress. Keep us posted with updates.

I got the frame back from the powder coater yesterday, worked all day today putting it back together. I think all I have left to do is bleed the brakes, hook up the park brake and finish repairing the exhaust. I bought paint for it, five quarts of papaya orange, that put a dent in the budget. I hope to get the firewall and frame sides painted this week so I can but the body back on the frame. I'm having to use rubbing compound to get all of the black goo off of everything, but it's all cleaning up nicely. Oh well it's just labor.

When you were talking colors a while back, I was thinking a color that jumps out would be good. No idea what papaya looks like but it sounds cool.

PS, you are another one of those super fast builders on here. I can't keep up :)

Today I got the frame sides painted and the firewall, tomorrow I'll paint the underside of the floor, black, just to cover the blue, and put the body back on the frame.

Well I got the body back on the frame yesterday, and have the doors fitting pretty good, then I started messing with the radiator, pretty soon the next thing I knew it was ready to drive, man it's a nice ride. I guess the fun is over for a while, now it's back to body work.

It's been awhile, been doing all of the unfun stuff. I have fitted all of the parts, repaired the fenders, changed the grille shell, new headlites and tail lites. All I need now is to get it to the painter, maybe a couple of weeks. This will be my last post until it's finished hopefully this summer.

  20. I just came across this thread, thanks Gary for starting it. This is an amazing rebirth of a very nice Vicky, thanks to the skills of someone who knows what he is doing. As for the paint, I'm surprised no one has suggested doing flames on it yet!

Flames huh ,, sounds like something I could get interested in .

  23. Glad to see the rebirth is progressing so well and so quickly.
I remember when the Vicky got wrecked a while back.
I thought it was headed for the shredder.

My question is how do you get rid of the burnt/junkyard type smell in a car cooked like that?

In the 70's I attempted re building some burnt Z28's and a burnt Bandit Trans Am.

The stench was still strong enough months latter to make them almost unsaleable.
Paint and filler would not cover up what else lived (or died) in those stinking cars.

    What's your cure?
