Got the motor stand the other day. Goin' to put it together and get the motor on it tomorrow. I will have pictures then.
Been busy. Haven't had much time to mess with it. It was snowing today. If I didn't have finals tomorrow I would go work on the motor
Nice job Michael. That is going to be one cool truck when you get done. Everybody is watching....no pressure! HAHA! Keep up the good work!
I'm not too worried. I hope it comes out half as nice as I want. After I get out of school today (I'm in homeroom at the moment) I am planning on pulling the oil pan off and lookin' for metal scraps.
Hah, I spent most the day cruisin' around the HAMB usin' the TJJ App. It's pretty sick. I didn't get out there due to the weather. Probably won't be out there for a couple days. I did get more of the motor torn down. I will get pics of that tomorrow.
good luck with the truck nice to see younger people getting into the hobby instead of hanging out on the computer or texting their life away lol
That's an average of 200 a day! Do you have time to eat? Sleep? Work? I was going to say good luck with the build, but now I'm not so sure you have the time........
Sounds about right haha. Nah, I don't let it get in the way of what I should be (or want to be) doin'. Got to love the HAMB
Been real lazy for a while. By time the school week is over, I am ready to hang out with friends. Soon, I will start gettin' back to work on the 48. I am hopin' the motor is usable.. Anyone know what type of manual tranny I would stick on a 350/327? I've heard a 350/327 is too much motor for a 3 speed. I really want a clutch in this! Hah
Well, there was no homework tonight and it was a nice (48 degree) day so I went out to the shop! Did more cleaning than anything else. But if you're interested here is what I got done.. I was wondering if the two holes in the corners are bad or if they come that way or..? Close up And just so you guys can give me crap.. Here is my arc weld from my welding class today.. According to my teacher it's a good weld, just too slow.
That casting flash, unfortunately, is VERY common in sbc's. When I strip a block before a build I go through and de-burr as many sharp edges and flash that I can get to. A pretty weld isn't necessarily a good weld. Yours isn't bad. Practice, practice, practice. peace
Good luck kid you are a inspiration to your generation and there are a lot of good people on here and will get all the help you'll need Grego56
Well, another decent day. No homework. So, my friend took me to go get some PB Blast and some Break Cleaner and I got to work on pullin' the tires/rims off. Then took the drums off. (With a little tutorial from my dad) and then cleaned up the breaks. Hopefully soon I will be buyin' a Master Cylinder and brake lines and havin' a stoppin' truck! Hah. Well, anyways here are the pictures Tires and rims off.. Hubs off.. Drivers side cleaned up..
I'm not sure yet. I am thinkin' just a stock 350 4 barrel intake with a smaller 4 barrel carb and an oldsmobile air cleaner!! (1954)
Hey dude, guess your'll have even less time for model group build offs now. I like your truck, its going to be awesome. Maybe you and 53olds can have a teenage hambers build off? Joking, but how cool would that be. would take a few years, due to funds and stuff. You guys are the future hamb hot rodders.
Hah! And nah, I've been slowly workin' on some models. I might have one sometime haha. And yes, that would be very kool. Does he have a build thread?
Good to hear that there is new blood in the building hobby! Here is a link to my F-1 build: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=422616
