    Sad but true.
After Tangerine Scream did well I had high hopes for the Punk.
Hope Doc got it---it's where it belonged in the first place.

    Doc did not bid.

600 HAMB bidders @ $40 each for material and shipping...I wouldn't touch it for less then $24,000 ;)

Here is the deal with cars/motorcycle auctions this year... (at least what I've seen being at a lot of them)....

blue chip cars, full certified classics, top of their marque 100 point resto's, race cars with real history and rare old exotics.... have held their value, if not have continued to gain some value. we are talking $300k and up cars

middle value, very nice resto's but not complete 100 point earners, nice resto's on nothing particularly special model cars, race cars without any big race wins, so-so exotics... have been soft. Down anywhere between 10-30%

bottom feeders have been hard to give away.

  11. And that gt40 go kart went for 48 k...WTF

    whaddaya talkin about???

  22. In the B-J world, yes it did sell cheap @ 65K (+ 6.5K buyers fee). I'm sure the previous oners ass is still pretty chapped today.

At auction, anything is only worth what two people think it is worth. Last night, 72.5K is what the winner decided it was worth.

Now lets be realistic, at least in the blue collar world and todays economy, 72.5K is one hell of a lot of money for any car, let alone one with somewhat limited driveability. Not to mention, if you wanted a recreation of the Punk with perhaps a little more room in it and had 72.5K burning a hole in your pocket it could be done for about the same amount as it brought last night

Aaron should be proud, short of maybe getting a diecast company to do a scale model, he has marketed the Punk in most every imaginable way and gotten a tremdous amount of publicity out of his creation. Let's face it, the Punk certainly helped put him on the map. The 'coupe de grace' for Aaron has to be the trip to B-J.
So Aaron, bro, how are you going to top this one?

I just hope the new owner appreciates the hard work, thought, passion, and design as much as we do.

I thought the coupe de grace was the trip to the playboy mansion!

  27. You sure?

That kart was built by Steve Davis' son-in-law. You gotta know they would milk that cow till it was dry.
