  2. Nothing is impossible.
Stock up on welding rods and duct tape and go for it.

The head lights on the cowl kill it for me and the funky lights up front. The body portion is bad ass. Find the thread with the 59 El Camino turned hot rod.

I don't wanna rock your boat, but why would such a "forward" design have a flathead V8?

Oh I get it, believe me. Nothing beats the sound. But by the time the Corvair came out, the flathead was gone...relatively speaking.

Oh man...Nailhead (insert the drooling pic of Homer Simpson). The boxy look of a Nailhead with the shape of the Corvair would seem like a very happy marriage.

Yeah, a 283 or 327 w/ 3 dueces would rock that. How about a 409 w/ a blower? Rear mount the radiator pulling air through deck lid louvers. And come up with something else for the headlights.

    Later, Kinky6

Back in the late '60's early '70's there was a Corvair engined "T"roadster that won a bunch of awards for "best engineered" rod. This thing was "way cool". It was extremely low... the top of the cowling couldn't have been more than 24 inches high. Really cool ride. I don't remember who built it or what happened to it. I saw it at a hot rod show/swap meet in Livermore, California years ago. Anyone have a picture of it?

Here is the one I have always wanted to build. I ended up selling it before I got going on it. Damn thing stranded me 30 minutes after I bought it, that was the first clue (seized the cooling fan bearing, which keeps the engine from turning over). Fixed that in a few hours (found a guy in Guthrie that had the parts) and drove home. Then it would vapor lock every few weeks, at random, in the cold. Never understood that. I still miss it though. Slow and dodgy, but it was so cool. I put flamethrowers in it, that thing would shoot a 4-foot flame that wrapped around the quarter panel. I have the video to prove it!

    I like it.

But it is a radical custom, not a hot rod.

Anybody know what the rest of the drive-train is?
It's pretty odd but that's why I like it!
A radically modified Corvair body would look cool on that:cool:

This car was on the cover of a Rod Action or Street Rod magazine in eth 1970s'. I think it won best engineered at the Tulsa Street Rod Nationals in like 1976. All my early mags are packed away at the moment. Does anyone one else remember this car? Where is it today?
