congrats on getting her back! everybody on hear should pay attention no matter where you live. with the unemployment rate the way it is everywhere, we should all put that extra pad lock in the door track, and a dead bolt on the service door. do something! dont make it easy for them. thanks nick for keeping the eyes open!

I asked the TV reporter to call me back after I had a chance to talk to the Blake family. I never heard back from from her.

That's a bummer, Nick! Stories with GOOD endings should be on the news, too, y'know? We have enough "gloom and doom" reporting. It'd be nice to share some good stuff, too, but I guess that doesn't make the ratings.

Thanks again for watching out for your buds, Nick!

Interesting to see this thread brought back up. The Blakes finally got the panel back after the police finished with it. I was supposed to get down there this week to work on my engine a bit but had the flu instead...

There were some very interesting details about this case, which is why we didn't post about it previously. If Dave gives me the thumbs up, i'll fill you guys in, I'd sure hate to mess up an ongoing investigation. I haven't heard what charges have been pressed against whom, but I'll be sure to ask Dave when I see him next.

  19. Nick, I glad this thread bubbled up too. I just joined H.A.M.B. a few days ago and really enjoyed reading the story, start to finish. Been racing for years so I know a little bit about how much the bad guys are out there looking for cool cars, and how seldom it turns out good. Please share what you can on the rest of of the story.

Big CONGRATS! on bein' "Da Man". It's clear from your posts you're a classy guy too. May the Karma bank pay you, with interest.

Glad to know I'm in such good company.

DMV wasn't involved any more than they would've have been on a legit deal. Once this sucker got cracked open however, is a whole other story. The perps "alledgedly" procured a bonded title issued by a third party (read; privately owned/not a State office). They were at the DMV procuring a trip pass or temp tag for some reason. With a title in hand, the DMV agent had no reason to question it, unless of course said agent was a HAMBer.

Welcome Starliner352! I believe that if it was any HAMBer the story would have the same result. We were pretty lucky that day and I just happened to be at the right place, at the right time, with a dime.

    Fantastic work, Nick.

You had the opportunity. You stepped up and helped out. That truck could have been lost forever without you.
