After the post rickster did of the 59 Chevy hines built that is now being restored got me thinking about how he built a lot of 59's. I did a search on here and google and after looking thru countless web pages (learned a bunch about hines though) I came up with not one pic of a 59 he has built. So lets see what you all have. Im sure some other 59 owners would be thrilled to see the things he has done with these cars as well Thanks Bryan
Here's a Crazy 58, and a pair of 59's. One by Bill Hines, but the plate is a lot lower on this one then the custom they just found.
Thanks Beatnik!! It's like talking just for talking....but with cars!!!!hahahaha He's a neat guy, I'd listen to him talk anyday....
In Beatnic's post the 59 owner Jerry Yatch was the original owner of the 1940 Mercury convertible that was at Pebble Beach this year. Bill Hines also built that one. The 58 looks more like Joe Bailon work, but I could be mistaken Here are some shots at the 05 Autorama of cars that Bill Hines built. Bill customized my 1956 Chevrolet in Detroit when it was brand new. His original Little Bat was being built in his garage at that time.
Out of both of these posts, on Hines built 59s, Im having a hard time picking the one I like best. They all have some very nice designs, built into them, and these pics are making me like 59 chevys a lot more nowdays.I have the upmost respect for this man and his work, a real hero in my book.
Yeah, the -58 is Bailons "Scoopee Doo" lotsa scoops there... Do you have any old pics of your -56? That would really be cool to see!
Thanks guys! That red one that beatnik posted is amazing! I love the things he does with the rear end of these cars. IM getting bad thoughts about my elcamino and what needs to be done to it
I might have, but not digital at this moment. I will have a look this weekend. Here are two more photo's of the candy red elcamino.
Not A Bill Hines 59...but a Bill Cushenbery 59 -called Exodus- ...the way it looked a few years ago, does anybody now, what happened to it?
I thought I read somewhere someone was restoring the Exodus?! I'm curious as well, anyone know of its whereabouts at the very least?
I'm pretty sure a friend of mine who is the human encyclopedia of all things Hawaii Hot Rod and Custom was just telling me about this car. My memory is nothing like his, but this is what I think he told me. If it's the same car he was talking about...he last saw it in Kalihi (in Honolulu) sitting out in front of a garage for years, partially disassembled. Said it was looking pretty sad. Word was that someone from the mainland had bought it and was going to restore or rebuild it. I'll ask him about it again. Would be great to find out it's fate.
