    " ...flooding is the theme du jour ............", Yes. Imagine, if you can, the whole State of Texas or all of France and Germany under water - that's the area of Queensland affected (75% flooded). All OK here though.

    I always thought it was Chuck Yeager but maybe he was just the one that broke the sound barrier not the first pilot.

    Jim, you're right, buddy: Crossfield, not Cross. And, yup, Chuck Yeager was the one who broke the sound barrier -- quite osme years earlier. What a ballsy dude.
