    Matt,

Happy to see you have a plan and have started work on this project.

I know we talked about it a couple of times in the last few years.

It looks like you have really been doing your homework too!

Building the body buck ought to be very "interesting", especially if you plan on fabricating a belly pan.

I got the 36 3 window back from the upholstery guy last week and the car is virtually 99.9% completed.

It looks like I need to cruise up to the shop pretty soon and take a look at your project and also take you for a ride in the 36.

Good Luck and Happy New Year

    Joel

BTW, I'm itching to get my road racer project going. This build may just push me over the edge.

For the past few weeks I've been thinking about how much I'd love to build something like this... except I lack the talent. I'm going to live vicariously through you... and I'm taking notes. This is awesome.

THATS IT!!! thats the car that made me want to do this. I love the Rivets.

Thats sick! I plan to run 2 into 1 X4 1.75 side pipe like the daytona coupes. I might make my own mufflers or if anyone knows about the datona mufflers let me know.

  10. That's what I was gunna say!

My father in laws Dad was the production manager at Glasspar boat company in Santa Ana in the late 40's and 50's. They built the Glasspar G2 glass bodied race car on that site and he was the factory works driver who got to race it at Pebble Beach etc. It wiped the course of Ferraris and everything else! It ran an ardun equipped tripple carbed merc flathead in about 1952 or 1953. We have a glasspar g2 body and chassis we are building to the condition of grandads (minus the ardun merc flathead unfortunately!!)

Awesome build, can't wait to see more!

  11. You know, JUST the other day I was thinking to myself, "I wonder what Matt and Kirk are up to- they've been awefully quiet lately..." :D

Absolutely! And the early Listers had a really evil IFS. If I remember right, they had equal length A-arms. As a result, the outside wheel would tuck under compression.

Dick Jutras' Devin Chevy. Very cool car. If you look close you'll notice the engine is offset to the passenger side of the car. I asked him about the balance of the car and he said that with him in it, the corner weights were within like 5 pounds of each other left to right.

    Cheers,
    Kurt O.

This one's all Matt, although I will be helping if he needs me.

I'm thinking of a similar deal, but with a modified Volvo P1800 body.

I want to see that too. I always thought those cars were cool and had some good visual potential besides what you typically see when they are modified for handling with fat tires and flares, etc.

Yep, they did have equal length A arms.

I get my countersunk rivets from Aircraft Spruce. They sell them by weight. I also bought riveting tools there for reasonable, as well...

    http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/hapages/solidalumrivets.php

Probably other places that sell them locally as well, (bought from McMaster Carr before as well), but they're prices seem competitive and they ship pretty fast.

For some strange reason, setting solid rivets is fun! :D:rolleyes:
