From the middle of KS. (Maybe a barn find to some) its dusty and been in a metal building for years. Came with 2 NOS fenders . She's a 2 door Bel air. Orig V8 3 on the tree car. Has been off the road since 68. Some dings but very little rust. I looked at a lot of 55's then this car and went and looked at more. Everything in the $2500 to 4000 was much more work(being polite). Im glad to have one finally. I have a 327 balanced and ready and a nice 4speed Muncie. The floor has never been cut. I'll probably concentrate on getting a shop built this year though.
Looks like it's got a seat, hopefully there's a whole set of the Belair side window surround stainless trims there too. That and a title are the hardest parts to find for these cars, and if you've got them all you're way ahead of the game.
I got most of the trim, back windows included only missing the front fender bel air trim I believe. I thought the side trim with the white insert was cool.
Don't worry about it, thats what migs are for. Now here's anel for you. I started with a Saginaw 3 speed then moved to other trans after. For each trans I made my own mounting base or plate so the shifter always comes thru in the same place.
yeah lots of variables. Probably run factory bench and look for that elusive 4sp bench shifter. But if I use side motor mounts it will move it forward a few inches. Hmmmm
Hurst made and still makes a shifter for the stock benchseat. It has a U shaped handle. Problem solved
Looks Great! Wish I had one to go with my '32 5 window coupe. Maybe someday. Good luck with the project & keep us posted on your progress. Hopefully, with lots of build photos.
NIce score. I remember back in the 90s when I was selling a 57 2dr HT, the first question many that called asked was...."does it have the original seats". It had the 64 type seats so I had to say no. Those people didnt even come look at it. Couple years ago my buddy had a set of 56 2dr seats, sold em for 750 bux. Sorry, the seat caught my eye.
Awsome find buddy!!! Welcome to the club . and please post some more pics when you get some free time , would love to see more.
55 and 56 same frame just differant cover for differant models. 57 hard top had the differant seat frame and the 57 post models had the same as 55 and 56, as I recall.
I wasn't a real big fan of tri fives until I started ignoring the pro-touring and paid more attention to the mid/late 60's style. Looks like you found a keeper. This veteran street racer has changed hands but has never changed looks, still wearing 40+ year old lace paint and rims. The current "caretaker" still drives it hard (his wife at the helm on an annual cruise) He has a thing for 55's (photo courtesy of dryden collection)
Looks like a nice find. All the rust repair I have done on these cars makes me tired thinking about it. Always a good idea to find the best one you can!!
Very nice find, I like the history of being in sleep mode since 68 and unmolested, nos fenders too. That my friend is everybody's dream find. Sounds like the price was right also. I have a 210 2-door post in same condition slated for an altitude adjustment. These cars are timeless with so many ways to bring them back, good luck, CGM.
Congrats!! That's one helluva a find. You are very lucky!! I hope to one day find a deal like that for that same car... Good luck with her!! JC62
The guy has had the car since he was 25. He's 67 yoa now. Story was he moved 30Mi away and the front clip was off the car. He came back for it and it was gone.. He nabbed the NOS fenders in the 70's. He has just done a 56post. He also had a very clean 55 panel(builder car) he just sold too. The panel under the trunk lid is clean. No holes cut in the dash for extra radios, guages etc. I saved a little more for this one but I think it will pay off when I redo it
