Melling oil pump issue

    I just had the pickup tube welded to my pump.......Brain fade set in and I left the spring in. I want to replace the spring with the same one....stock Melling M-55. Does anyone know the part number??

    Melling has a website , but how did you weld a tube to cast-iron?:confused:

    Braze it. Works good. Take the spring out first, then shim it for more pressure if you think it needs it. Most dont.

    Most of those pumps come with another spring to change it to high pressure if needed. Why not just find a spring someone did'nt use? Even I have one in the gasket drawer. Butch/56sedandelivery.
     
  6. We always just removed the topcover and drilled a small hole and tapped threads for a setscrew,,then loctite into place,,never had one fail.

  7. Careful with the shimming of the spring trick. Some of the melling pumps have a longer bypass valve and the bypass won't open. You'll blow the filter right off onto the concrete >>>>.
