    That's a Gasser (specifically A/G) not M/P. Not to be a dick but there is quite a bit of difference.

    M/P started in mid-60s and NHRA excluded 30/40s cars from M/P in early 70s, limiting M/P to postwar vehicles. Thus a pretty small window of time when 30/40s cars were allowed to compete in M/P.

    Others in the string linking M/P w/ Pro/Stock. I say not really as Pro/Stock was an outgrowth of the Super Stock Classes. Grumpy, Sox and Martin, Dyno Don and others wanted heads up racing rather than the index system found in the then current (circa 69/70) Super Stock classes. AHRA was first, followed a years or so later by NHRA.

    I remember a very sinster looking '57 Chevy called Clockwork Orange but I don't remember if it was Modified or a gasser. I think modified because it had all its bumpers eytc. Wondering if anyone has any pics of that car? Mark L

    You mean Rick Voegelin,s Clockwork Chevy?
    Started out an AHRA Super Stocker and was then converted to an NHRA Modified Production car.

    It was bought brand new and delivered to Shallcross Chevrolet in Middletown, De. where it was built into the car you see pictured. Info came from Tom Shallcross.

    Anyone have specific M/P class info from a 1970 or 1971 NHRA Rule book? Pictures?

    Thanks in advance.

    Junior stock. Was it eventually painted all black or partly black? I thought it was black as per my memory? Thank you for the recognition. I just remember it looking so sinister after seeing the movie, which for its time was as sinister/dark as they got. Mark L

    Colesy,

    The photo you posted of the Willie Wagner '62 looked familiar so I checked my archives. Here is a photo I took of the car in 1969 at Manhattan, KS during an AHRA divisional event.

    "Gold Fever" moved to Austin in the late 70s. We talked Bear into selling us the car and ran Div IV for a couple of years. The car was a blast to race and we were thrilled to have it. This car was class record holder NHRA and ran with the best of those Chevy's. M/P cars were always on the edge and required mucho spare parts and you better have been a damn good wrench. That was racing!!!

    A few photos from the 1970 NHRA Supernationals in Ontario California. I wish I had an entry list from this race but I don't so if anyone can identify any of these old Vettes, please let me know. Thanks;
