    Hey Guys,
I wanted to take a minute to thank our fellow HAMB'er, BCCHOPIT, here for building me an absolutely beautiful new axle for my '57 Chevy, and show you guys what he's capable of. I had bought this car with a very narrow 46" speedway axle which not only looked terrible, but because of questionable welding and narrow width, was absolutely unsafe to drive. Once in touch with Bill Carlson, aka BCCHOPIT, I explained my problems with the old axle, and he offered to make me a custom axle for the car. After a quick turn-around & very reasonable price, I now have an absolutely beautiful new axle that's a full 4 inches wider and infinitely safer. My thanks here to Bill for the build and for restoring my faith in American craftsmanship. Of course I now highly recommend him, but I think the photos will prove more influential than my recommendation. Thanks Bill!

Is that a 3" tube? my 2" axle doesn't wrap around the kingpin mounts like that.

I may need a wider axle as well. How can I get in contact with Bill? I'd like to get some info about that. Thanks for posting this. It may be just what I need. Bill, if you read this please PM me, thank you. Mark L

The car came with '54? Chevy spindles, but I know he can make an axle to accomodate Ford spindles as well. As far as cost, comparable to a speedway axle, cheaper actually considering the shock & spring perches he made and welded. I don't want to mention actual cost, but rather have anyone interested in having an axle made talk to Bill directly. I'm just a satisfied customer & fellow HAMB'er, not a business partner :D

The springs were under the car when I bought it, but I assume they're the springs you get from Speedway when you order the straight axle kit. They're stamped 'USA' which was good enough for me!

Thanks for all the kind words guys. I have been doing all the welding for a guy that sells Dirt modified /Sprint /mini sprint and Super Modified Axles for 9 years now as aside job. I have been talking about doing some street axles for 2 years now and George was the guy that got the ball rolling. (Thanks George)

I built the axle the same way as the race axles I just used 2" 1/4 wall tubing. The king pin boss has a safety flag welded to it to stop the boss from coming out in a crash
Over kill for the street but better save then sorry. Plus all my fixtures work.
I play with CNCs by day so I can made any thing if you cant buy it just ask and I will make it happen.

    old & new axle

Yeah, Bill knows his way around a fab and machine shop. haha. I was hoping to be the first street axle out of his shop, but priorities are keeping me from starting on the truck... For any one looking to have an axle done, I know Bill personally, and I don't think I know a harder working, honest family man.... Nice Job again Bill...
