Heres one I aquired a couple months ago. I swaped out the 250 for a 292 and kept the car 3 speed. I repainted the interior and had the seat redone. Hoping to have it on the road next week:D

During the holidays. I installed the NV-3500 trans in the 60. A Buddy fab'd some solid mounts for the block. Removed the bell and built a cross member. Bought a 91 clutch slave. Added a small portion of line and had the drive shaft cut.
The result was pretty good after fixing a issue with the clutch pedal linkage to the master.
Drivability of the truck is incredible. With 3.73's in the rear this truck will pull like crazy up hills. I could drop the gear to a 3.55 and it would make first a little more usable. 1st gear could pull a house down and still get up to 15 mph. 2nd gear is a perfect take off gear.
Best of all the truck has some serious legs now.

sadly sold mine today =(...... If I can ever land another job hopefully I will have another truck by summer and it will carry a 60's "push-truck" theme to it.

Very cool. A buddy (64cheb) and I are in the middle of putting a NV4500 into his '64 C-30. We were going to pull the current SM420 4-speed by itself, but some inaccessible bell housing bolts, and a broken motor mount made us decide to pull the motor and trans as a unit. Will give us a chance to re-gasket, clean & paint the 283 while it's out as well.

You couldn't have said it better Newrider. The NV4500 should make it pull about the same as the SM420, if not more. I can't wait to be on the freeway.
You would be surprised how hard it is to find a 89-95 Chevy 2wd with an NV. Mine was a call from god, and for $250, I couldnt resist. Just gotta make a new shifter and add my grenade, and we're in business :)

Yeah i think a gear change is in order. Pulled out yesterday on to a road and forgot I was in 1st and had to get into it. I would have loved to had a picture of this 60 walking side ways.

Here's some pics of 64cheb's C-30. As you look at the pics you'll probably notice a good amount of rot and bondo, but the price was right, and it's a good project. First some background about it..

How we first got it, with a ridiculously large and rotten flatbed:

...and that was the first thing to go:

I built him a mini-flatbed out of some scrap wood (scored for free), it's good enough for hauling loads of scrap or his bikes.

Replaced the wheezy single exhaust with some glasspacks, and stack pipes to keep the interior noise down in the cab. Figured exhaust run all the way out the back would be a bit funny on a truck like this.

Today we pulled the front clip, and yanked the motor and trans. We were planning just to remove the original 4-speed, to replace it with the 5-speed NV4500, but decided it would be easier to pull it all. The 283 is in dire need of a cleaning and some new gaskets.
The cherry picker we were using wasn't really rated for this kind of weight, and failed before we could get everything out. So we ended up rigging a couple chain hoists to the rafters of 64cheb's garage, and pulling them that way.

These pics show just how nasty the engine was:

Sorry about the blurry last few pics, must have some shiz on my camera lens.

I think I will patent that coating as Donkey Crust, There is very little rust on the engine, leaving clean grey Iron. We are thinking Chevy Blue for the engine color.

The flatbed was so huge, we had to cut it in half, with it falling inbetween the tires and frame. we had to cut in half again to fit it in Newrider's Detroit powered Chevy.

A bad day for working on it, a momentus day for scrappin'
