I have a little more info on the Alton Jones #6. The body was built by a Vahericks (not sure of spelling) in Albany NY. The last known owner was Bill Damon, who restored the car and painted it white but kept #6. According to Speedway Scene October 11,1985 issue, Bill crashed at Hudson Speedway duirng the "Old Timers" race. Does anyone know Bill Damon or the location of the car? Are there other Vaherick cars?
    Thanks,
    Dan Jones

I just came across the H.A.M.B. website the other day and have been reading everything that has been posted. This is one great site!!
I saw where Ken Schou was asking for a few Ronnie Evans photos a while back.
I am his son. Here are some both in the Smith Offy and Artie Eichman's car.

I grew up just a few blocks from Sims shop and spent a few hrs listening to Tommy And Rudy telling stories. I even worked for Sim Clark one summer. Rudys son Bill also raced a car out of the shop after Sim died and Bill OZZIE Osborne took it over. The 95 rail was converted to half rail half tube framed car. I was the gear changer and cleanup crew on it after it went from Sim to Bob Craddock then to Taylor Hughes, I took that all aluminum body and frame to the Alviso dump around 1960.

Enlarging the photo and reading the caption, and looking at the cowl and hood, leads me to suspect this is not a Kurtis. Anyone confirm and identify it?

Boy that one slippedMy Mind, I knew that you guys won with ChevyII first, but I completly forgot about that one, with age comes memory loss so I check the books to make sure about past racing ,They dont even list a race at Vallejo in 62? 9 races listed out west but not listed was Vallejo in "The official" championship midget auto racing Record book ,Those old farts that ran usac back then forgot to do a lot of things "LOL", But were quick on the draw to outlaw, specialy west coast midgets that took it to them.

Also just wanted to make sure you know there are HAMB sites for Sprint Cars and vintage Modifides. Denny Z

I have a question about the front axel on my midget. I was looking at it today & noticed the left side of the axel seems to be purposly higher then the right side? It's a narrowed model A axel, maybe it's an optical illusion? I will take a picture of it tomorrow & ost it up for your expert eyes to see.

Hi Denny, it's good to hear from you. I heard you were back racing for Skip. That's great. I do have more pictures. Ronnie passed back in 1982 @ only sixty years old. That's my age now! I do know of the other sites and I am trying to catch up.

These pictures are from Scranton, Poughkeepsie and Schenectady New York
    1947 1948
Back then they would run 7 days a week and if you had a NON-Offy
You got to start in the front if you made the main event.
Sim Clark ran A v8-60 with Stan Disbrow on the ARDC circuit he boasted
they would get the pole and Stan would HOG the bottom so no one
Could get by, they shoved bumped and pushed but the car handled so well
it only messed up the guys behind , took the another lap to catch up .
one week Stan won 5 out of 7 races , they eliminated that rule .
    1st place paid $100 awesome…Lump

    Lumpy ..

    I think you might mean 1967 & not 1957??

I could be wrong, but I don't think there was a Chevy II until 1962?
