    Before I am reamed.......yes I searched.

What flex plate and torque converter are needed to put a 51 powerglide into a 53 Belair? One has the converter held on with a nut, the other has the stub.

From what it looks like, I just need a flex plate and a converter, but I cannot find an accurate description of the parts needed.

    Thanks!

Why not just stick with a '53 power glide? Not trying to be an ass, just curious.

I don't know the answer to your question about the flex plate/torque converter, however, I just want to note that the '51 'glide starts off in "Hi" gear in the D position and if you want "low" you have to manually downshift the lever, then move the lever to "D" when you want the upshift. Starting in '52 glides they start in low and self shift to hi. You may very already be aware of that, but just in case you are not it may save you some consternation when you began driving it.

    Regards,
    Ray

yeah, I knew they had that slight difference. It's one of those deals where is simply doesnt make sense to put a $800 tranny re-build into a $2000 car. :(
