    Hello Fellow H.A.M.B.ers!

I just hate seeing these "stolen vehicle" posts, just such a heart break to read. I never thought I would post them.

There have been however, some rather heroic saves by this wonderful community that have managed to locate quite of few of these cars.

A friend sent me this one. They don't get online enough, so I offered to post it here for them to see if we can find their prized 1911 E-M-F touring car, truck and trailer.

A Bethel Island man was arrested Friday on suspicion of possessing and attempting to sell a stolen 1911 restored horseless carriage automobile, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The Everitt-Metzger-Flanders, or EMF, carriage was stolen from an automobile cargo carrier in Pittsburg in Dec. 2010, CHP officials said.
The victim informed the CHP that someone was attempting to sell the EMF in the Bethel Island area. An undercover operation was conducted and the vehicle was recovered, CHP officials said.
Officers arrested 50-year-old Gary Ray Smith in the 1900 block of Taylor Road at around 4 p.m., according to the CHP.
The EMF had allegedly been stripped of unique brass parts, including large headlamps, windshield trim, and a double twisted horn. A unique red hood was also missing, CHP officials said.
Anyone with information regarding the missing parts is asked to call (925) 646-4980.

"The EMF had allegedly been stripped of unique BRASS parts".

I hope the scumbag didn't sell that stuff for scrap.. It's good to hear it was recovered though.

Good news, HELL great news! Getting the car, or in this case most of it back is good, and the scum caught even better.

Actually, it barely moved, Bob. It was stolen in Pittsburgh California, ad recovered in Bethel Island California. A total of about 10-11 miles.

The brass was likely scrapped, sadly. Scrapping things that do not belong to you is a popular pastime around here.

Thats really awesome that ya found it and got it back. Unfortunatly these people dont understand how much time and money can go into finding parts for these kinda cars.

1911 EMF belongs to my husband and me. We truly appreciate everyone who looked for this car. Also thankful to the CHP who helped with the recovery and the SF Bay Area Media who are covering the story. The car was taken from Pittsburg, CA and recovered in Bethel Island, CA, about 11 miles away.

Scrap yards should be making phone calls when they see mint-condition brass headlights and grill shells brought in.
