Anyone have an instruction manual for a Hurst Vertigate Shifter? I just picked one up today along with a fresh Borg Warner Super T-10 Power Brute (Cast Iron Case) with speed shift syncros....

WooooHoooo, this should be fun with the HEMI and QC rear.

  3. Not so bad once the calusus develop on the two lift fingers, you just have to keep in mind on a daily driver they are like a badge of honor from Hardcore Gearheads! :D

I've heard they can be tough on the street. I'll give it a shot. It's in pretty good shape. I might hit it with some brake cleaner and try some dry film lubricants on it.

Was hoping to find an instruction set for informational purposes.

they're not bad on the street. ran 1 for years in an old nova. lotsa fun, you just gotta be thinkin ahead on the shifts into 2nd and 1st. picked 1 up to use in my T roadster but went with a comp plus instead. the Vgate just eats up too much space. :)

The last time I checked, the instructions were still available online on the Hurst site.

They do take up a lot of space. The reverse lever is kind of hokey looking too.

I bought an nos one at a swap and found the breakdown online by searching with the part number on the shifter. The thing works great but will slip out of first unless you hold your hand on it all of the time and it rattles going down the road at speed. Other than that you can really spank the thing through the gears and nearly impossible to miss a shift. There used to be some brand new shift boots available through amazon for about half price. Do some online searching.

Thanks guys, I was checking it out a little closer last night. It may be an older version the reverse lever is round on the topside with a black ball. I'll have to look for part numbers on it.
Everything seems to work well, but I would like the instructions to for the hell of it.

That is a very good way to explain how they work. I sat on the garage floor (Like a kid that got a new toy) for 30 minutes playing with it and watching the mechanics.

At least I wasn't making motor noises, or well at least nobody heard me making motor noises, I don't think I was making motor noises...but if I was and nobody heard it wouldn't be a bad thing right??:):)

if you convert the pull lever on the front to be like a hurst quarter stick it is much more street friendly.

  28. I was just going to point that out. I converted mine to a squeeze lever and used a round knob on it. Loved it.

Pro stock drag racers use the exact same design on the liberty (etc.) transmissions.

Thats why I bought one, in high school I had one in a Mustang now many, many, many years later it was a must have for my Falcon. Pain in the ass yes, but fun as hell.
