How does the fuel get from tank to mechanical fuel pump(Injection). Is it gravity fed, another pump? Do they use a standard cam driven mechanical pump? Thanks

Gravity fed, cam driven or crank with a belt.

The latest trick is to mount the pump in the tank and drive it with a cable. That way the pump is always full of fuel and the pump does not have to try to drag the fuel all the way up the fuel line. Fuel always like being pushed rather than sucked--that is why it is recommended that you mount an electric pump as close to the tank as possible.
