chicken coup find: '32 cabriolet early drag car

hah. The sun shines on a dog's ass every once in awhile. My dad and I have heard about this car for a few years. We didn't really know what to expect when we went to look at it. Pretty neat... and yes we're getting it. Not sure what we'll do with it. Will definitely fix it structurally - the frame looks cobbled together and that steering looks like an accident waiting to happen. Body is in great shape... other then the rear wheel wells hacked out to clear the rear axle. The old fella used to drag race it. Claims to have gone 98 mph. He said it has a 283 and a powerglide. Once we get it out, we'll have to investigate it a lot more and get the whole story. It's been sitting in this chicken coup for a long long time...

Finds like this rekindles my hopes that there's a gem out there that I'm destined to stumble upon. I'm anxiously waiting to see pics of this treasure when you pull it out. Am I see right that the steering arm is made from flat stock?

 

That's several fathoms beyond coool!!! Did ya notice the non-'32 door handles? '50's steering wheel..... aftermarket gauge panel under the dash.... whitewall cheater slicks....... OOooooooo.......Neat car!!!!!

Just curious...did you find it very close to home? You have a lot of nooks & crannies in your neck of the woods.

 

Damn! Thats a big ass chicken coop. Its bigger then my garage!

 

Now please. Don't listen to any goofballs on here that say just clean it up and get it running the way it is. It needs a total rebuild from the little that I can see. Rebuild it to make it safe. Make it your own and don't worry about some forgotten supposed history. That local history thing gets really old most of the time. Have fun. Neat find for sure. Great project material.

Great find! The very first Hot Rod I ever saw was a '32 Cabriolet with a HEMI, for a moment I thought this might be it, but it is not. Good luck with the project...........you may want to upgrade that steering arm on the left front spindle.

dammit no chickens .. luv the sprinkles .. and bird dropping unsymetrical striping..not sure if the hood mounted htr/defroster will be something you would not want to change..
