I remember Christmas, 1965, and a very cool gift I got was the Eldon Figure-8 slot car set with a pair of 1937 Chevy's that the body panels came apart upon impact at the intersection. The panels snapped back together and it was off to the races again. I gave the set away in about 1970 to my moms church.

Is that 8ball the same car that Ollie Silva raced??

  4. Damn, I just noticed the engine setback on the Jim Shampine 8 ball.

Don't think it was an Ollie Silva car. Either ShowCar or Shampine built it, for the 1980 season.

I don't remember seeing that chassis, but the body looks exactly like his pinto in '74. Why did my sister insist on coloring on some of my old programs???? grrr.

I don't think that's Ollie's old pinto either. Most likely Jimmy's own creation.

They are similar. Both engine setbacks are extreme. Not the same car though.

I'm not even sure if these are legit. I found them on a Chevy truck site. I see one pic has a Fonda poster near the front.

This looks like the #45 coupe that was owned by my friend Don Gillette, a former sprint car driver, and I believe it was piloted by Bill Rafter.
