392/417 questions for N/TF

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by applekrate, Dec 23, 2010.

  1. I am trying to learn about the differneces in the valve trains between the different early HEMIs for Top Fuel and A/Fuel use.

    Does any one here know-

    1. do the 392, 417 and aftermarket billet heads all use the same valve placement?
    2. besides the more modern way to mount and use the rocker stands like ARP vs the vintage long shafts,is there interchange of valve train componants between the above mentioned heads?

Need to get in touch with someone who has experience with using these different kinds of heads, esp with T & D rocker part.

    Thank you in advance.

VRA/nhra rules require that the valve placemnt be the same as stock. You will find that after market rockers use the shafts, as the heads torgue through the mounts. I have early style John Dearmore rockers, though his new and upgaded ones are a lot better.
