Who's got the coolest shift knob?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Slimegreeeeeen, Mar 31, 2010.

  1. Wow. There is some awesome stuff here.

The guys who have the cast resin knobs, if you finished them yourself, what kind of paint did you use?
I have two from Jimmy Flintstone I'd like to finish someday (a top fuel driver with helmet and goggles and a Fink type monster) but have no clue what kind of paint to use... I'm doubting Testors Model Paint, but really, then again, I don't know.

    Any help? :p
    Thanks!

I used acrylic craft paint and then had mine cleared in the paintbooth at work with urethane.

Those would be cool in a wood knob.

Here's a good idea. A leather wrapped knob that looks like a gimp mask.

I can't say they're the coolest but I like them well enough. They are from KIRK!, he's got some others in the classifieds

I've got some old bakelite knobs, as well, which I had planned on running in my cars before these came along. I've got to be careful, objects like this can get addictive... like Doc and his Norm knobs. :D

I recently acquired this little guy..a very old devil with incredible patina. I'd imagine he could tell a lot of stories, but he's not talkin'. Although I was around & aware in the 50's, I've never seen another. Because if the lighting, I couldn't get a good shot of it on top of my 4-speed, but it's really the cherry on top of the cake on my '33. He kinda reminds me of a cross between Vincent Price & Salvador Dali, with a tight hood & big collar. It's a solid chunk of aluminum. Has anyone ever seen one or know about it?

I have a friend that is on his second artificial hip. He was able to get the first back and that's what he is using.

I have a cool old brass door nob that will be a shift knob, as well as a few chainsaw pistons.
