    Merry Christmas to me.

Last week I made a deal with Kustom Chief (thanks again, Larry!)for the '57 Ranchero he had in the classifieds. I couldn't pass it up, I've been after one forever but the timing has never been right until now. 292/3spd with a floor shift conversion, last registered in '66. Runs and stops, and is mostly complete, needs some EMS steel on the bottom edges, but is much better than most I've seen on this coast. Plans include, lowered all around, clean-shaven except for the side trim, tastefully molded functional lake pipes, possibly a '57 Desoto grille ala tiago 1st version, rolled pans front and rear. Should be fun, I'm thrilled. I'll cook up a build thread once I get moving on it.

You and me both, brother! They really knocked the ball outta the park with the '57s. 58-59 are pretty cool too, but a little too large for my taste. The proportions and simple aesthetics of the '57 just work so well. ESPECIALLY with the ranchero body style for some reason. Balanced...

I can't wait to dig into this ol' girl.:D

That's my second choice, right behind a '59 El Camino. Of course if I had one it would have to get Chevy transplant.:cool::D
Keep us up to date on getting it roadworthy.

Super project! When I was in high school in the late '50s, small upstate NY town, one of the local guys had a '57 Ranchero, Hondouras Maroon (was there any other color back then?), lowered all around, 430 Lincoln power, Lee tailights with the "club" centers and a white tonneau cover on the bed with a matching "club" in maroon on the center of it. Wow, that was some eye candy for a 16 year old who was still pedaling his Schwin to high school. Good luck with it, will watch for the build thread.

Haha, Jeff I almost had her convinced that this Ranchero was what she wanted for christmas... almost! Now that would have been sweet! ...except then I would have had to paint it bright red.

You think he actually owns ANYTHING that's not remotely automotive related? He probably put cheater slicks and a dropped axle on his millenium falcon!

    from nowhere...

I tend to love me some Rancheros. Nice find, and good luck with it. Need a battery tray for it? I don't need the one I have, it's brand new. Mine is in good shape.

I will be getting very deep into mine in a few years, ( after the truck and the A ) but for now, it's low and pretty solid, and runs great, so...I'm just driving it.

I kind of wish mine still had the Y-block...
    I like my aod, though...;)

Enjoy one of Fords best hits,IMO...
