Very well done. Too many people chop things for the sake of making a custom, and end up squashing the hell out of their car. You did this car justice! Looks awesome man.

Nicely done that'll give any Merc a run for the money in the custom stakes, very restrained and stylish.

Maaybe it would have, if they didn't have to market them to people wearing funny hats. Seriously, a great thread on a project that turned out perfect. Way to go!

  5. The Hudson looks great! I went camping with all the dirt bikes and other toys out in the desert.

Maybe some of the idiots who want to over-chop their Mercs will see this and use some restraint.

I hear ya but 1.5 inch on a hudson is like 4" on a merc! Hey i thought you east coast guys especially florida guys had no restraint? im surprised it didnt get chopped like 7 inches! Just kiddin man it looks real good those back windows also get funky when when chopped alot so you made some good calls on this one. See ya at the round up 2011?

You will see us at the round up for sure. You aren't kidding, the 1.5 looks alot more. I think it fits the car. After studying your car and Hudsoncustom's car, I had a good idea of what I was looking for. I would love to have put the '54 windshield in it, but I figured you already did that.
To everybody else, Thanks alot. It feels good when people have good things to say about my work. I still have alot to learn.

I just had to chime in. It's perfect. Exactly right. You have a great eye and are a hell of a craftsman.

This is just perfect.I think they all should be looking like that when they rolled out of the factory.

  15. Respect for having the restraint and class to chop it only 1.5". It´s just right!

I will have to agree with everyone else and say Great Job! Can someone please educate me on how those small clamps pictured are used to hold the sections of sheetmetal together? I have seen them before, but am still unsure of exactly how they work. When you use them, don't they leave a large gap between the sections of sheetmetal?

They leave a nice probably 1/16 gap to get penetration. They slide in and there is a one inch square block that holds up the two pieces of sheetmetal.

Man I love those Hudsons.I agree with you,it looks perfect with a slight chop. There tops looked chopped from the factory. A lot of work but well worth it. Too much and the top would look too small on the big body. You guys do some nice work ! You are going to get guys saying it came like that,LOL.
