workin on a late series 1955 dodge truck. still can't pin point if it's a 260 or 270 poly. have read and heard the dodge did the 260 and that plymouth did the 270 and visa versa. either way, the motor has been bored 30 over, and the heads have had been ported and had a three angle valve job. stock cam. currently running the stock 2bbl ww stromberg, and it seems like it could run better. anyone know what the stock cfm is? and anyone have any ideas on a better or slightly bigger two barrel four bolt carb i can use for my engine set up. engine is assumed to be around 200 210 horse in this configuration
from 55 it should be the 260, i think the 270 was 56. i had a two bbl 500cfm holley on a 56 270 and it ran great. i had to use an adapter though... i also had a stock 55 260 with dual 2bbls, and it ran fantastic with the two carbs.
the owner would like to run the dual carbs someday, but the intake and extra carbs aren't in the cards right now. 500 cfm seems like a bit much to me though.
The passenger 270 utilized a 4 barrel that was somewhat larger than the 500 CFM two barrel. Remember how CFM is rated: http://www.thecarburetorshop.com/Carbshop_carbsizesandCFM.htm Jon.
