Things have been super busy at the shop, and it's time to take a momentary breather and start another one of my personal projects. I've been collecting parts to build a modified for some time now, and I'm pretty sure I have them all rounded up. This will be a pre-war style car with either a mildly warmed over A, or B motor and transmission. It will have mechanical brakes as well. Details below: 27 T Touring body. (was cut down by previous owner, don't flame me!) 1930 A complete chassis/suspension/axles 1931 A Grille 1931 A Lights 1935 16" wires 7.00-16 Rear tires 1941 Delco lever shocks 5.00-16 Ribbed front tires T Gas tank 1934 Steering box and wheel Dual carb intake of some kind Custom headers Straight pipe exhaust Progress will be fast on this one....got a kid on the way in June, and lots of customer cars to get done as well!
Cool! 86 the lights and you'll have yourself a pretty authentic modified I'm sure!!! If the strange bird was any indication of the level of detail I'm sure we should all get out a pen and pad and take some notes.
Ahhhhhh! I like the headlights ALOT! They will be on a bar that easily unbolts for super duper high speed use.
Been too busy working on stuff to pay the bills.....so it didn't get done as fast as I would have liked. My buddy Casey came and helped me bang this thing out in 3 days. He's a ruler. All the body blocks, floors, woodwork etc are by him. I did the rest. Probably the easiest thing I've ever put together, almost no fab work. The column drop and hood latches aren't done in the pics, but you get the idea.... Boy is it fun to drive!
I've seen this a few times in some old photos where the body was raised as to use a stock A radiator in the stock location. I thought it was a pretty neat idea.
Dirty Cheap and Fun. I like it!!!!!!!Oh and quick too. Shit 3 days... Are you one of those TV series Builders or What???
Sir, Now that is down and dirty - but simple Modified. Bet it will be a bunch of fun in the dirt or on the highway. Dave
Down and dirty was the best thing about building it. At my shop, everything has so much detail that sometimes its hard to enjoy the primitive/crude aspects of our hobby. These old modified / dirt track cars are about as primitive/crude as they get. So little effort for SO much fun.
