Ford passenger car last-six starts at 100001 at each assembly plant.

Assembly plant code is position #3 in a 1954 Ford VIN A4FG100001 = the 1st Ford passenger car scheduled for production at Dearborn for the 1954 model year.

    Position #1 is the engine code (A = 223 Six, U = 239 V-8); Position #2 is always 4 for the year 1954.

    Position #4 is the product series code (G = Customline and Mainline, F = Crestline Skyliner; C = Crestline Sunliner; V = Crestline Victoria; T = Crestline sedans; R = Mainline Ranch Wagon; W = Customline Ranch Wagon; X = Country Sedan; Y = Country Squire)

    Production started January, 1954
    Highs are listed:
    Atlanta (A) 165959
    Buffalo (B) 161398
    Chester (C) 165497
    Chicago (G) 196269
    Dallas (D) 202233
    Dearborn (F) 235822
    Edgewater (E) 188571
    Kansas City (K) 173157

Mainlines do not have any stainless side trim,Customlines do, also most Mainlines do not have the stainless trim in the rubber around the windshield. This will help more than anything just click this and scrolldown: www.oldcarandtruckpictures.com/Ford/1950-1958.html Also if you are now a '54 Ford owner you should join the 1952-56 Ford owners social group,we are very active with lots of info to share('54 Customline owner myself) and group moderator.

Just acquired a 54 Wagon. Vin shows A4FX but she surely has a V8 in it. Must be a transplant from a 6 cylinder, right?!

Post a pic of the radiator support. That is the biggest difference between the V8 and strait 6 models of the 52-54 cars.
