I double checked that link first, but my first answer would have been right. no belair 2 door hardtops for 59...
either a b/a clip on an impala, or maybe a canadian model?
I wouldn't be suprised if the canadian 2 dr hardtops were belairs...

lol- just noticed you are in b.c.
chevrolet did not do a very good job with logging production #'s in 59,
but the # of sport coupes was 164,901.
they did not break down any of thier #'s, just entire production for each body style is listed.
again I do not know if that # is american production only, or world wide total for the sprort coupe for the year.

Wow You learn something new every day. I preferred the 58 Belair ht over the impala. My dad bought a new 60 Belair 2dr ht and the 62 bubble top is a favorite of most everybody. It seems funny that they would drop it for one year and then bring it back.

I had a friend that built a 59 Impala using the Belair side trim several years ago. I liked it better.

I know the 60 Belair ht is a pretty rare piece.

Chevrolet in Canada made about 1,000 1959 2-door hardtop Bel Airs... Canadian model only. None were built or sold in the U.S., so all of these cars will have Canadian body tags on them. The first blue one is weird because it has no Bel Air side trim on it, except for the Bel Air badge itself. It's also interesting to see that it has what looks like a 1-piece front bumper on it. That copper one has been passed around like a 2-bit whore... been bought and sold numerous times, it seems. It's actually got a 409 in it, and it was originally a 235...

  15. Am I the only one that thinks the front windshield is all f'ed up? Looks like it's overlapping the front roof line at the top?

Savage - good catch. Looks like someone put a sedan windshield on there to cover it up... they're about 2 inches taller than hardtop/convertible windshields.

I bought this Canadian Bel Air two years ago in Montreal. It is a 2 door hardtop ( same body as the Impala but in Bel Air trim ) 1 Of 1031 and the United States did not make a 2 Door hardtop ( roof is two inches shorter with no post ). It has a seemingly original Catalina interior which would not be out of character for GM of Canada to use. I purchased documents from Vintage Vehicle Services Inc because GM of Canada does not have files from this era. The car is incredibly solid and is correct Satin beige. It was born with a 235 6 cyl but now has a 1988 GM Tuned Port Injection engine mated to the original Powerglide and original 3:08 open differential.
I will be selling this car soon , it’s time to move on to a 55 Bel Air Convertible.

  23. I saw one of these in a California Junkyard many years ago, and I was baffled, that Junkyard was not very far from the south entrance to the Yosemite National Park.
