Well its kinda rough but I have always wanted a woody and what better way to get one than saving it from the crusher, thats right, this car was on the way to the crusher, it is full of scrap and was pulling into the scales when I spotted it....wow what a shame to see a car like this heading that way! Anyway it will be at the blasters this week and will be on its way to recovery very soon! Jim

Heck,it doesn't look too rough. At least no one has jumped up and down on the roof.Looks like most of the bottom of it is still there.

No kidding. Did you buy it from the scrap yard, or from the guy hauling it in? Id be curious to know where he got it, and what else is there. Did you just have to pay scrap price, or maybe scrap plus a little? It seems like it's mostly there.

Yes I got it for scrap price, plans are mild custom, I have a 390 so I think it will get the FE for power, then the basics, discs in the front and 9" rear, I think the car was white originally but I am thinking I want to do the car a cream color with tan leather interior. Like I said I have always wanted a woody, when I was a kid we had a 46 woody all stock we called it grandpa, dad and mom would take it to the lake and out to eat about once a month and I have so many memories of it just riding in the back having so much fun playing with my toy cars and going places in it, hopefully I can have this one done in time for those kind of memories for my grandchildren.

yeah I think I hate you.

not that I could do anything with it, I'm not good with wood.

I tried welding it with some special wire but it just smoked like crazy and when it got hot enough for the bead to start flowing, it burst into flames.

Great save. Congrats. Will watch for the build.

  24. Worth about 8-10 times what you paid for it, as it sits. I sold my '50 for $1600 like 5 years ago, but most were bringing $2000-$2500 in the same needs everything condition.

Seems like people are either dazed by the auctions on TV and want 10X what something is worth, or are too dumb/lazy to buy a clue and trash something valuable.
Glad you saved it from the latter....
