130 in my 65 vette down I-5 north of Seattle, 113 in a 6 cyl 1970 Duster going thru Montana in 1971. We were going home from North Dakota and had a trunk full of everclear ,flavored vodka and 2 baby racoons up front with us that we were going to keep as pets, I was 20 and my friend was 18. I saw a cop coming up on us like we were standing still. I looked over at my buddy and said I figured we would be spending time for illegal booze and interstate transportation of exotic animals. He wanted me to slow down, I told him it would make us look guilty. that sheriff went past us going at least 125 with his right arm up on the back of his seat and never even looked at us. still remember this as if it were yesterday.
Pegged the 150 mph speedo on my '71 Camaro back when I first bought it in 1973. Once was enough for me, never tried it again!
140 in a 1964 olds conv. I mostly have lived in the great plains so crusing at 100 mph was routine. Now traffic is so bad i have to back down to 90. Really never saw a need to go at the max.
ca. 145 on my old CBR 600 F2; about the same in my M Coupe. Fastest I've felt is in my kart at around 80 mph. With you keister 2" off the ground and no seat belt it gets your heart pumpin', especially when the tires are cold or the track is a little slippery.
Not sure but it was in a two seat blown hydo. (badass drag boat for those who don't know) We put new engine in and went to lake for a "tune" session. Went so fast I seriously thought about jumping out! The next weekend he was clocked at the races @ almost 140 in the 1000 feet and we went a hell of a lot farther than that! Like riding a blob of pudding in a hurricane and I NEVER want to do that again! 60 mph on water is plenty fast for me!!!

155 mph in a 240 Z built 6 cyl. triple weber carbs 5 spd. on the Ventura fwy as a teen. not very smart.
122 clock on radar in my private Plymouth Fury. I think we slowed to let him catch up. In my former career 120-30's happened a lot when trying to catch up or overtake a vehicle. I had a 81 Vette that with some modifications would cruise in triple figures. I went to Boston one subzero night cruising at 110 in a Chrysler. It was around 2-3 in the morning I had my uncle with me. He remarked how well the car ran and asked how fast we were doing. When I told him, his only comment was sure runs good. I slowed down.
That's how fast it spins...around the sun. I don't know if this was the fastest but it is the most memorable. When I was a kid in the back seat the old man and a friend decide to try and bury the speedo on his 383 Polara. At night. On a forest highway. In winter. And they're both drunk. I was 100% sure we were all going to die.
last year coming back from the GG Scottsdale event , 117 on I-10. back in the '70's I went 120 in a Sanger hydro. See I;ve slowed down in my old age !
Yeah ditto. But I have turned a 155 lap, documented, at Las Vegas speedway. 35 MPH off real racers times but it felt really fast. 135ish indicated in my 96 Cobra. Wasn't any road around here safe enough or cop-less enough to top it out.
OFF TOPIC SPEED MACHINE!120plus on my 01 Softail, I had Kieth Black 1550 30 over pistons,biggest bolt in S&S gear drive cam's I could shove in its chest 595"s I believe, kibble white valves and springs, scorpion clutch, swap meet 2 into one header, All this stuffed into a 16" aped, suicide clutch chain driven death machine, with no front brake what a fucking rush ....I once did about 120 (at least thats what dad said never tell you mother that's ow fast we where going...)as a small child with my dad at the wheel of his 65 396c.i. 425 h.p. Vette Coupe running a 68 427 Biscayne down I-75 Death Hill on the way to school one morning... Its no wonder I always had the nun's call my dad to tell him I was sick and needed a ride home...
in my 69 merc i bury the 120 speedo every once in a while, when power tour was here i raced ( i know bad bad boy ) a 60 something camaro he said we were doing over 130 when i let off. i ran a vet up to 161 looking for a vibration for a customer ( found it ). i had my 90 toyota 4runner up to 100 shes got 240k on her and keeps goin. i had my goldwing up to 140 and my buddies busa up to 183 and it still had pleanty of go left. i love going fast, fast isnt fast enough. hell i was driving a beetle with bald tires and damn near no brakes took it to the needle stop on an 80 mph speedo. i tried to get wilk to let me take a spin in his nitro car but he said the thought of me driving his f/c scared the hell out of him cause i prob wouldnt let up on the damn thing. hey any body wanna let me borrow their car
