The Schwinn "Stingray" was sure a hot item. I can't remember when they hit the market ('64?), but my brother was on it fast. He had one with the leopard seat, high sissy bar, stick shift and a slick, and bike riding was never the same again.

Anyone have any more of those "before and after" photos of a building or location from decades ago coupled with the same shot from recent times?

I know this one! It's Main St. (Route 11) Canton, NY. Pearl's was a small town store chain in Northern NY. Mom used to buy me my clothes there. The whole store was smaller than the underwear department at Wallymart!

  12. Wow, that's odd, I can't imagine anyone shopping at WalMart even wearing underwear...

I was at Elvis's last concert in Milwaukee Wisconsin... I was glad I could see him before he passed away.

A few years back I helped a lady customer at our ranch load a mini horse
into her Lexus SUV, and I insisted on taking a pic so people would believe
me later. BUT, this well-behaved baby elephant in a DeSoto? On this thread,
there's ALWAYS something you haven't seen before!!! LOL

For those of you who didnt grow up in southern california in the 60's,,
Cal Worthington was an icon of used car salesman, and he was a showman.

Just back on Levi's.... does anyone remember when there was a leather patch on the back right pocket that wasn't full of advertising. The Levi's came with a little wooden handled tool with a heavy wire that had to be heated in a fire, then used to carve your name into the leather patch.

I wasn't allowed to carve my name into the patch, as the jeans had to be passed on to my cousin when I grew out of them.

My cousin didn't only get the jeans, he also got the little branding tool and carved his name into the patch.

I wasn't happy when I first saw the addition that I wasn't allowed. I must bring up the subject, when I see my cousin in the next few weeks.......:)

...... It's funny the things that come to mind after seeing something posted in this thread. I don't think there has been a picture posted that I haven't enjoyed viewing. [IMG] ("Beauty mate," in best Crocodile Dundee voice imitation).

Davy Crockett hats - I wasn't allowed to own one because, "They make your hair fall out".
I used to borrow one from the boys who lived across the street.
Now, I wish I had listened to the advice .... sure enough, my hair has been falling out for the past few years.
