Does anyone have any pictures of the clutch linkage for a 49-52, 53-54 chevy sedan? I'm missing most of the parts for mine and I'm not sure know what to look for. Also any links on where I can buy the parts?
i have a 54 sedan with 3 speed..complete. I have no need for the clutch linkage. tell me what ya need and its yours for just the cost of shipping.
Thats a very nice offer. I'd like to take you up on it, I'd be willing to pay you something for your time too. Pictured is all I have, no linkage and no pedal either.
ok...give me a day or two to get some pics of what I have and figure when I can get it all apart and you can have what ever you need...even the pedals. Im just using the body and frame and are installing a later running gear and engine. Rest of it is yours.
Thanks guys! Correct me if I'm wrong... so these cars dont use a z-bar type setup? Looks to me that there's some type of rod that connects to the threaded rod on the clutch fork (picture 3 above) and simply pulls it straight from the bottom side of the clutch pedal arm? If so I could fabricate something like that pretty easily. How does the stock setup feel, is it harder to push then a later model mechanical type? Thanks for the pics, I was having a hard time picturing how the setup should be. I assume it looks similar to this one from an earlier model? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1941...tZVintageQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
The master cylinder serves as the pivot point for the clutch linkage; it is the "cross shaft" so-to-speak. Looks like you have that part of the setup. The stick shift and manual trans cars take a different master cylinder because of that. The setup is a little "Rube Goldberg", but it works well, a little bit of a pain to adjust the clutch. Glad someone is giving you the stuff you need. Butch/56sedandelivery.
Anyone else have this linkage for sale? Someone rigged up a cable system on my car and it snapped after adjusting it. I am now on the look out for a stock linkage setup. Thanks!
The E-Bay listing, posted by scottydc, are the parts missing from merge's, the original posters, pics, and what you need also. merges also needs the clutch pedal if he does'nt have that, I believe I still do, for FREE if he needs it. When swapping in a V-8, most guys will use a couple of links of chain as a spacer; the right length of chain may work for you also, but how would you adjust the clutch? Over on ChevyTalk.Org, in the 49-54 forum, you may find someone with the parts you need also. Butch/56sedandelivery.
'49-54 cars use unique linkage parts. They are not the same as anything else and they are not reproduced you will need original parts. The fork however is the same as '47-54 trucks.
