How about a miniature 'May Cause Dangerous'?

That would make a great photo op...

  2. Mr Rooneys other car, mentioned above, was going that way...

I agree with Jane! the off white with the dark red flake is the best combo!! it's HER car... quit trying to talk her into something YOU want ;)!!!

Much better picture! The proportions are beautiful, very "retro-rocket" like... now drop the whole car with a bias towards the front, wide whites, a little dusky pink paint, and some flake on the roof make the whole thing come together, IMHO.

Hey RichG you've got overspray on the sill trim and front tire - you didn't mask it off properly....;)

If I were You, I´d probably start with a different set of wheels, something like the ones on the car in post #11, chrome spoked rims, anyway. Something that might look more correct to the period the car itself represents. Whitewalls would look good, too. The rims You have on it now, I´m sure are fine by themselves, but look more like ´70s-era Rally Escort and the like, at least to me . As far as alterations go, (and if You´re set on changing the "default" color), I´d probably just pick (or have the owner pick, rather) some sort of glossy metallic color that, again, might go with the era the car itself represents, maybe some simple, contrasting color for the roof, if need be. Other than that, and in case it´s a legal option for You, I´d see about swapping the amber rear turn signal lenses into red ones. Never a big fan of the euro-spec orange ones. Purely from a stylistic standpoint, they seem to create a mis-matched mess wherever You see them. Swapping the red lenses in would help simplify and most significantly "broaden" the back-end visually, maybe for the same effect try and do away with the somewhat tacked-on appearing back-up lights? I wouldn´t do any more "shaving" than that myself, even though it seems to be suggested by many on here. As "curvy" as that roofline is, still it´s a fairly short car with a high beltline as seen from the side, somehow the removal of the door handles seems to add to the blank surface on the sides and consequently, to added visual weight. For the same reason I´d skip any and all sidepipes, in fact I never saw a car where they didn´t have that very effect.
Anyway, not really familiar with this particular style car myself, just trying to suggest that as mapping out any other custom car-build, don´t just go slapping on a load of the most fashionable quickie modifications at random and end up with something trying to look like something it´s not, study the lines of the car and decide for Yourself what the prominent features are that You like best in that car, and what might perhaps enchance said features and what doesn´t, and go from there!

Just my 2c, You asked for it. Anyway, best of luck with the car and Your build!

  18. I was thinking it looked like the big American Ford Too. I think If you lengthened the roof and then chopped it, it would look too bad. Great looking car the way is though.

THAT is the best colour ever, - do it!

If you do go for a lighter colour you NEED the scallops, otherwise the body depth looks to 'chunky' imho.

Yeah, and a midget out of the old lady inside:D
the reason I posted our original photograph at that angle rather than side on was to try get a little bit more of the roof line in, but comparing the two I guess it does make it look a little chubby.

A retired bank johnny huh? sounds about the right tone for someone used to making people lick the carpet for a house loan ...oh wait, you guys don't need to do that now you have been bailed out by the taxpayer.

BTW i loved the little Capri when they were new but today you have to a dwarf to drive one and still look cool because they are so tiny. A regular size driver looks like a clown in a circus car. people in the UK were a lot smaller 50 years ago.

Now we haven't started yet man, figure the cars got about another year's life left in her before we have to start tearing her apart, and like I said it's all going to be very very mild Kustom work then.

I already built my own, just so happens this one will be next on the list to get some treatment
It was actually the wife who asked me to start this thread, funnily enough but yeah, you are right. That's why I'm butting out of the whole thing unless my opinion or guidance is asked for
keep you posted when anything starts happening
