In an effort to keep a Ford in my Ford, I'd love to see pics of some traditionally dressed small block Ford engines. I've got a rebuilt traditionally dressed 350 Chevy on the engine stand, BUT don't want to use it in my '54 Customline Victoria. I'm in the middle of a complete redo (mild custom) and want to stick with the 351W that was in it when I bought it. Pics are "before" shots. The car (and engine) will copper with a pearl white top riding on chrome smooties w/bullit caps. Any pics and ideas appreciated. Thanks
I know small block Fords aren't really considered traditional, but only one reply??? Maybe I shouda titled the post something more controversial like "Don't make me put a small block Chevy in it" Anyone got pics of a nicely dressed ford engine????? I'm thinkin of using Cal Custom valve covers, Caddy air cleaner, etc... but looking for ideas.
I don't know about traditional...but, it's neat, 408 windsor on 30% nitro. This is what we had in the dragster before the hemi.
Well FWIW here's my take; 1; I have a 351W in my kustom.A '69,first year they made 'em.I love it,big cam, roler rockers ceramic headers, goes real well. However it's not trad, and you can't polish a turd, but I don't care, cos the Kripple Kart is a kustom, and the hood stays closed. So if you like the way it runs, just keep it clean and don't worry about it. 2; on the other hand, the 351w in you're '54 is obviously not original and if you are that concerned about how your covered engine looks and have a fully dressed 350 already then I would say throwing that in there would be more traditional anyway. Good luck whatever you decide. Paul
I always put fords in my builds. Althou like you said...not that traditional but it is for me. Pic shows a sbf but not a great pic. I just acquired my rpu back after 25 years and it needs some serious attention. Headers for one and a good general painting and detailing. First thing that's gotta go are those awful braided hoses. Nothing trick or spectacular here thou..
Here is the period correct 302 on the stand and in the engine compartment of the 65 Ranchero I'm building. Sorry I was too lazy to clean the dust off.
Nice pics guys, My initial post had the "before" pics - here are the after pics. The only underhood pics I have were before it was all buttoned up. Oh well, you get the idea.
took me a little while to upload these but here ya go. Still got some dress up left to do but looks pretty alright for a daily driver.
That engine would beautiful in any hood less Ford!!! I find it curious a engine that was introduced in 62 is not considered "trad" enough....
