Ok done with Memphis. Stright a head to DFW a quick loo at the map and we thoght it would be a nice 6-7 hour ride. No, that was not the case. To take that trip in a car that is 64 years old you had to add about 3 to4 hours. This was a long day behind the weel. And every one seems to be in a hurry. The trucks just passed us like some kind of aliens. But we passed one as you can se. Well we arriwed to a hotell when it started to be dark.
Plans were made for the night, There was a swapmeet that we were planing to go to .so we took a chanse amd went there to take a look and see if there were some buissnes going on at this friday night, But we were run out of there and told to come back in the morning

Well the next stop was a the swapmeet in Dfw to see if there was something to buy. As a swede we are not use to be at this sized swaps. We have one a year that is close to this one. this was great. here is some pic´s of things to buy. But everting was not for sale....

Way to go, you got a lot of balls. Most Americans wouldn't dare do what yo have done. Enjoy that car, it seems to enjoy you driving it..

The car is really nice, but this thread has given me an unexpected laugh.

It has to do with your calling the car "Larry".

That is too funny, but I guess you would not know what is or used to be one of the popular things to do in the US with a custom car.

That is to paint your name (the car' s driver and owner) on the door under the window. His name was obviously Larry.

Sometimes his wife's name would be on the other side (passenger door) for instance Shirley.

So, the cars name is NOT Larry, but one of the former owner- drivers was Larry :D:D:D

Well i realise that . but i dont have another name for it so it has to be Larry for now.
    Thanks

Cool car and a great story!

I sold a 64 Impala to a group of guys that were riding around over here in a U-haul truck buying hot-rod parts. Just my part of the exchange was an experience...I can't imagine buying a car over the net and driving it cross country...You guys have got faith!

    Awesome road trip dude...
I had a friend who did a 4 month dirt bike tour of Mexico, Central America and Baja. He said a trip like that was something everyone needs to experience.

My plans... hook up the Scout gasser and tour on down into the gold ol US of A and hit as many nostalgia meets as possible. Hopefully ending in Bakersfield for the Fuel and Gas meet. I have it pencilled in for the summer of 2012.

That's a great looking car Abbe! Keep calling it Larry.
BE CAREFUL! Be aware that cars like that are stolen every night
from hotel parking lots! It's too easy!!
I have lived in Texas for 66 years. There are bad guys here too
(as well as other parts of the US).
You are letting everyone know that you are likely on the way
to the Houston port area to ship your car home.
Make SURE you don't loose it on the way!
The good people in Texas welcome you.
The bad people are watching you.

Every car needs a name. "Larry" fits. I like it.

Great story. Shame on you Americans who are afraid to take your rods on a cross country trip in your own country. And your English was good enough to keep me smiling through the whole thread.

I enjoyed meeting you guys in Fort Worth.
I had a heck of a drive home in the pouring rain. Without any windows in my Sedan, I got soaked to the A-bone.

    Thanks again for lunch.

    Daniel
