Shift bar going down column was not chromed. Although if some one had suggested it to Jr. it would have been. A big thank you to whoever did not suggest it.

The 1/4 glass is installed, as well as the stainless trim around the window openings. This kind of "little" stuff makes all the differance in the world.

It's difficult to overstate how nice this v-butt is. I just wanted to put my hands all over it. Which I did.

Well we're outa here! You all will remember the problem with the first glass guy that I was hooked up with (post #635). I asked you guys for help and once again you came through. Glenn has definitely proven himself worthy of this project. The trimmer mentioned to me that he took his time and was patient when he installed that back glass. So if we didn't know before, we know now that there's a very capable hot rod/kustom glass guy in DFW. Thank you so much Glenn Clark!

Now lets get this thing back to home base and do all the remaining (cool) things to reveal the real Jr Conway shoebox. After all we do have a place to go and a thing to do.

I'm posting this early because I"m going cruising tonight (the first time in 50 years) with Missysdad1 and Fly'n Kolorz. When you start a project like this it's those unintended consequences that you gotta watch out for.

    A full report to follow.

Well, just a brief look at last night. The Albertsons at I-20 and Little rd. (Arlington). My two hoodlum bff’s (I guess if Paris and Brittney can have em I can too). Me in the middle. Brought mom and, we went across the street to Colters BBQ. The rest of the pics are a tiny look at what we had for desert.

I dunno, Jer. The tall one looks okay, but the little guy looks pretty shifty to me...

Phase one of the finish up plan is to adjust the clutch linkage and trans linkage. This was a good running 8BA with a floor shift trans. The original trans was in the trunk. We want to make this a reliable driver and then lower it. The idea being that we don't have to be under it for anything else.

Here's a look at where we're at right now. The car came with de-arched rear springs so all we need is 3" blocks in the back. This should show half the w/wall. I think Jr said he had 6" (!) blocks in the back. The second pic shows the original car at its highest. The third at its lowest. Nice pic of the rope eh? Anyway you get the idea of where we're headed.
The car came with dropped spindles so, all we need is about 4"in the front. We'll cut two coils to achieve that.

The problem with phase one is we don't have the lowering blocks (I ordered them yesterday). So we'll have to work phase two (exterior detail for pin striping), phase three (underhood detail) and phase four(the interior detail) while we wait.
So the question is, can we walk, chew gum, comb our hair (ha!), and not run into anything at the same time? Well we'll just have to see. Won't we?

A bit discouraging at the moment. The door latches were modified to work with the poppers/solenoids. The R door latch is stuck and the door won't open. The door trim panels have not been installed so that's good. I'm too big to really have access to the door from the inside. Son Tom is givin it a try. Ah...the adventure continues.

Another early post because of prior arrangements.

I thought that I had gotten the correct era phone until I saw Jr's original dash pic #355. So here we go again. I was able to find the correct phone and i modified the bracket that Dick Jackson made for me to match the pic. I'll show that when it's mounted to the dash.

Well, it's these damn unintended consequences that are more a pain the ass than the difficulties of a build like this.

These guys are appraisers. Trying to put a value on something like this has to be dealt with now. Grundy recommended the co. that these guys work for. Of course with everything comps are the most helpful. This step is critically important for transport and security reasons.

I'm thinking that the vehicles out of the Barris shop during the 50's would be the most applicable.

Any help with this would be most appreciated.

I broke the stock knobs off with a hammer. I heated the stock shaft that was left with a torch (in the handle on the bench). I pushed the teardrop down hard forcing it onto the shaft and then tightened the little allen screw in the side of the tear drop. Fits and works great.

If we can get the shifting rod configuration figured out we may just go around the block tommorrow. Then...

We worked a good part of the day thursday getting the trans linkage squared away. After talking with Chris at SBF we realized that we had the upper rods attached to the wrong levers (at the column). A 10 min swap and we're back in bussiness. Thanks SBF. And the price was friendly too.

    This might be the day.
