I was posting this stuff on my Face Book page to let all of my friends see what I was up to and thought I'd share it with my friends in The HAMB Family as well:

Took my camera outside to take some pictures while I worked. I know I like looking at pictures of what other people have going on.

I started by cleaning up the firewall to get it ready for paint:

I shot the firewall in a pretty cool shade of "off white" and while I waited for it to dry I got to work on the motor.

I started off with a better set of heads than the stock set:

Then I moved onto a 2x2 Offenhauser intake, and put the distributor in:

Two rebuilt 94's later and some plug wires and it was starting to look like something:

Then before I called it a day I put the freshly painted firewall on the chassis to see how everything would look:

It was a good afternoon, now I'm off to stuff my smiling face with food.

Enjoyed your flat head build. I got a new flathead v-8 from h & h and would like to put offie manifold and 2 stromberb 97 on top. Will this really give me more power or is it just for looks ? Just learing. I think it is 100 horsepower now ?

    LOOKS GREAT, nice work..
I would get rid of the air cleaners or put K&N filters in. The paper one restrict air flow..

Figured I'd post some more photos and I make progress on this car.

I started on the wiring today, I like doing this sort of stuff since I get to be overly methodical without being made fun of for it, ha.

I don't like drilling holes into or mounting anything to the firewall unless it's absolutely necessary. . .

. .so I made a little plate to mount the fuse box to the back side of the firewall where the screws for the radiator support rods come through:

I also lament over the little details if I don't do everything a certain way. I like to use asphalt wire loom anywhere that you might see the wires:

We made mounts on the frame for the tail lights to keep everything clean. I hate to clutter things up with too many hand made looking, bolt on brackets and stuff:

Spent most of the day routing wires. Not too many things to take pictures of, but I tried!

  12. That's one swell looking firewall.

Looks great dude. The bracket on the firewall is perfect!! Let me ask you, is it truck bedliner in the inside firewall?

It's bedliner, I figured with all of the toes that will be rubbing up against it, this might last a bit longer than just painting it black.

    Thanks.

I thought about the alternator, and went back and forth between painting it black, or just leaving it bare aluminum.

In the end, I thought it blended in better with the aluminum intake and heads if I just left it alone. . . and sometimes things look worse when you try to hard to hide them, painting it may have made it look worse in this case.

. . . but who knows, I might wake up tomorrow and paint it. :)

No it's awesome. I love the texture and strength of that shit. Dodgerodder used it well as well. I'm ripping that off of you and doing my 35's firewall

Nice work man, VERY clean! I wish I could be that patient during assembly, hahaha!

Speaking of Alternators, have you ever thought about using an early mopar alternator? They're finned ally and much more eye-pleasing than their GM counterparts. If you look closely, you can see them used on many different makes of engines in early 60's magazines. Regardless, your engine looks great!

    Carry on...

    Great detail work!

Generators work great too (I even am running halogens off mine), unless your putting a bumping sound system in that thing. But the altenator is totally fine and dependable just commenting.

I can hook you up with a great guy out of Mass to build a generator for you too.

Also for your exposed wiring, Rhode Island Wire makes custom cloth wire harnesses for cheap money. Not sure if you covered that already.

Nice clean brackets and routing man. Doesn't need to be all exotic, just nice and clean. Good Job!
