I think my dads old 354 poly block might be in my grandfathers shop somewhere. I have an extra pair of 331 heads. If I can find the block I might put 'em together and make a display engine. If I ever wanted to, would this combo work for a running enigine? I know 354 Hemi heads work on a 354 poly block, but would 331's?

331 and 354 heads are interchangable. I believe 392's are also, but, due to a higher block, they might need masaging.

392 heads don't really, not worth the effort. Plenty of info on the hemi tech index on converting a 331/354 Poly to hemi.

You can bolt the 392 heads on, but the intake & the 354 W/P (or 392 water crossover) wont fit.

...and depending on which 331 heads are used, some additional problems occur.

I don't intend on doing anything with this combo other than painting it and bolting everything together. This is like the bonus Hemi that I didn't know I had. As long as I can find the block.

If you have the front opening '55 331 heads, no problem. If you have solid front heads(51-4, or truck) you can assemble a nice looking display engine w/o any way of getting water out of it to the radiator(w/o modding a few things).

These are solid ended heads a friend gave me a few years ago. I figured they would be better sitting on the block where I can look at them instead of on the shelf.

If you decide to run it that way, there's info in the Hemi Tech Index. If it has round, instead of oval ex ports, you'd probably want different heads.

It does have round ports. I'll try to get the casting numbers off them next weekend. I doubt I'll ever run this one.

No need, they're the early 51-3 heads. '54 & up are better heads. Still look good on a stand!:)

Well I won't be using these 331 heads on the 354 poly block after all.
