Who has or had the worlds fastest 1938 Ford Coupe. No fiberglass, stretched, tube chassis drag cars. Just balls out, old time vintage steel .
Like drag car fast ? land speed fast? Road course fast?0- 100-0 fast? There are many different kinds of fast.
Maybe they'll have it on the next fast and furious...with neon, 22s, nitrous, lots of billet, and some pretty boy pretender driving... and it will do wheel stands from a rolling start on street tires... Adam
1938's are not the most popular year among the fat fender Fords so I can not see a big push for guys competing against each other for the title. Now 1940 Ford's would be a different story! Or Willies!
Parents aren't the problem, my roomate really likes the series, he's got em all. Since we're using his TV, I can't really stop him... I showed him Greased Lightning (about the black race car driver/moonshiner, NOT the musical) and he didn't "get it." Adam
Bet Chuck Edwall's would be in the running, Caddillac powered , Chopped by Johnny Vesco, Races at the Drags, El Mirage and Bonneville, I believe it's been over 185 mph at Bonneville .
About the time you figure out 38's then some other newbie will want to know about 39'S years ago someone claimed to have the worlds fastest Indian
That car looks very nice, but also slightly strange - i suspect it is the heavy 'B' pillar that makes the chop look dumpy. Are there any really good '38 chops without a section too?
But it doesn't matter how fast you can drive as long as you can sell die-casts and t-shirts. That's where the big bucks are at. Put the #88 on a t-shirt with a 38 Ford on it and watch them fly off the shelves.
Ryans 38 in its earlier form http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mz95xaMMZhA&feature=player_embedded I think he was still at 13-1 comp then? He carried Octane booster like the rest of us carry a cooler.
The 38 Ford Coupe is one of the most beautiful automobiles ever made, unfortunately, the faster that you make an automobile the less graceful it tends to become. A fine line between the appeal to the eye and the ability to produce astounding power and speed that can be both controlled and maintained. That said Ryan's 38 is a definite contender. There may be faster, but they may give up some style points. You can put a rocket up your butt and launch yourself down the street but if you don't look good doing it no one will remember you for long.
If I saw someone flying down the street with a rocket up their arse I reckon I'd remember it for a while, no matter what they looked like. Mind you, I live in the country. Not much goes down our street except tractors and cows.
hey does anyone know how much this 38 coupe was chopped?? i got a 39' standard coupe and im trying to figure out how much to chop it but Chuck Edwall's has the perfect amount of chop i think... thanks for the help Cheers Slick
Dont know for sure but Chucks email is [email protected], and he would be stoked to tell you about it.
