  4. Speaking of stealing signs, our town has a new subdivision with streets named Corvette, Mustang, and Thunderbird. After a half dozen or so thefts, they finally put the signs up about 14 feet on the pole.:D

Blue Balls and Intercourse PA were a part of a famous court case in 1962. Ralph Ginzberg started "Eros" Magazine as an "art magazine," but was hauled into court when the nude pictures (including those of Marilyn Monroe) appeared in it. Ginzberg's intentions became key to the case, because he had originally tried to mail it from Intercourse, PA, but that town had no post office, so his second choice was Blue Balls. Once the Federal Court got this information, they convicted him of obscenity and closed down Eros after only 4 issues.

I heard that the name Novi came from the old milestone on the national road that ran through there, it was number 6, or NO VI in Roman....and from Novi came the name of the Novi engine...anyone else heard this story?

I grew up in St.Louis, near the Chrysler plant. Street name was Imperial, other streets in our subdivision were Dart, Fury, Valiant and Peffer (what the hell's a Peffer?)

I'm going to plead the 5th on this one but I've got a municipal "Pontiac St." sign in my garage.

I was born in Knob Noster, MO. Not really that interesting but weird.

I now live on "It'll Do" Road in Pea Ridge, AR. "It'll Do" just doesn't roll off the tongue when giving directions...confuses the heck out of folks.

Don't forget Tightwad, MO either. Used to know the mayor, he had a small budget LOL (really).

    Or Toad Suck, AR.

  22. I grew up on a farm on "Turkey Foot Rd." in Maryland. Got busted by my dad altering road signs to read "Turkey Poop Rd." We also have a "Boring MD." and "Accident MD."

I live in Speedway, Indiana and we have another town called Gas City, Indiana. I'm sure you have heard of the racetrack in Speedway home of the Indianapolis 500. And Gas City hosts sonme of the best 1/4 mile dirt track racing you will ever see!
