I ordered a bunch of my air bag stuff last week and got it on thursday, and got some bag cups from The Bearded Bullet, so I spent this weekend playing with that stuff. Since I don't have any power hooked up to the car or any of the valves, tank or compressor, I made up a manifold with a pressure gauge and blow off valve so I could test the front end.

I made up some brackets so I could bolt in the bag cups, and got the front all bolted up, and aired it up.

    then aired it down.

Now i have to make some brackets to mount the rears.

    Thats it for now.

  2. Damn fine work, the car looks sinister already, keep it up.

Hey guys, I finally got the car sitting how I want it and I'll post pictures later tonight, but for now...
I've been fighting myself on color since I started this damn thing but I think I have decided. The color is a stock 59 buick color sierra spruce, over black. With a Light green flake roof, top of fins and trunk lid. What do you guys think, other thoughts?

    Thanks

Those seat covers you got would be great for catching the afterbirth.

What's that suppost to mean!? :D I think I might have to use my Rivie buckets and spring for some actual upolstry.

Last weekend I managed to get the springs out and almost have my rear bag brackets done but this is where it will sit. Not as low as it will go, but as low as I want it.

Yesterday I went ahead and cut out all of the rotten trunk seal area, and will replace it this weekend.

I also started cleaning up the trunk floor while I was back there.

And today I got my wheels from duffman. They are 15x7 Radir round spokes. Now I really need to get to work so I have something perdy to mount them on.

That metal work looks sweet. Is that welded with a wire feed ? Any special wire ?

Its all a mix of wire feed and tig, depending on the part, and if I took it with me to work. But nothing special wire wise.

UPDATES!!! At long last I have updates. I got sidetracked at the beginning of summer when I saw the writing on the wall that there was no way I would have it anywhere close to done for Billetproof. So I worked on the vans interior and some runability issues through out the summer. I also got a not so Hamb friendly motorcycle project that ate up abuncha my time. Now I'm back on track. I've been working on getting my motor built, and have all of my parts. The block is at the machine shop and the recipricating assembly is off being balanced.

I made a trip down to Oregon to get some wheel well arches and rear bumper stuff. I picked up a set of 60 rear bumpers, and had to shorten them and narrow them.

I bought a set of better, but still not good enough wheel well arches which gave me a good pattern to make new ones. heres a quick progression.

Then I finished my rocker panel, and started the rest of the clean up of the rear quarter.

I forgot to take pictures of the wheel well all welded in before Por-15 but here it is with the trim on it.

I resanded down the quarter to get off all of the flash rust.

There was a little bit of that pitty black rust that doesn't like to come off under where the trim goes and in a couple of places where the car had been stripped and rattle can primed. I wire wheeled them out really good and then painted them with Por-15.

I prepped it out the rest of the way, sanded the Por-15 and got the rear quarter, and rocker DP'd.

And for shits and giggles threw the door on.

    Hopefully more updates tomorrow.

Where have I been? This is the first time I have seen this thread.
I guess the Buick rallys are just on the car for shits and giggles, have you driven with them at all?
Where did you get your bag cups from, and is the rear finished?

  25. This '59 will be a Killer Ride!
Love the rear canted fins & headlights!
