It is a "Ford Thing" turns out the '89 Aerostar coils will work on '49-'59 Fords and lower the car 2 1/2" to 3" if you don't have a Ford look in your local yellow pages under springs and find an EATON dealer they can find springs for your needs, you can also get info from their website.

toucan...thats a really nice car! Slam it and drive the piss out of it. Maybe some different rims or some nice Caddy caps, no lancers like in the photo shop pic and keep the WW's. The rest will come to you as you drive it. Again, very nice car!

I like the green and white its got going. I say a heavy flaked green on bottom and just redo the white.

IF you're going to remove handles, take all of them off, don't remove just two...it looks like you're trying to make a two door out of something it's not...same with emblems and extraneous trim, remove it all...make it a real kustom.

Keep the two tone, add a '58 or '59 Buick grille if you can find one. Drop in a pair of '56 Olds taillights in the stock openings, or, add a pair of aftermarket Corvette 'bullet' style taillights to the stockers. Paint inside the side trim with a complementary color. Add fender skirts for a '60's look, keep the ww's but change the hubcaps and lower the hell out of it...a pair of pencil tipped exhausts centered under the rear bumper would look killer.

Opinions on what to do with a car are just that...and most opinions change with the days of the week. Do what you like.

Damn, that's really nice looking. I might swap the lake pipes for Bellflowers (I don't like how lake pipes make the height of the bumpers seem too much, does that make sense? Bellflowers make the rear of the car parallel with the rockers, more balanced maybe?) but that's it, great looking car without any radical mods.

yes the wheel wells are white. they look good but are a bitch to keep clean!
As for those back up lenses? There's a story behind those, years ago A buddy of mine gave me those (said he didn't have any idea what they were off of) so when I got my ford I was looking for something different to do with the backup lenses and i remembered I still had those green ones and as luck would have it they fit perfectly! (with only a little modification) but I STILL didn't know what they were from until the wife and I were strolling aroung the Ceder Rapids swap meet and I saw a guy selling the same type of lenses except they were blue. So I asked the guy what they were off of and he said they were old ambulance cab marker lights.
so thats the best guess I got so far!

Thanks for all the good coments on my car, gunna tear it apart and repaint it this winter! wish me luck!

the Aerostar coils are the right sizing and give a nice drop with full spring tensile strength for a nice ride. My original 59 springs are tired, adios muchochos! ~Sololobo~
