That '55 is nice! Depending on what, exactly, is the issue with the engine, it may or may not require a full rebuild. Hard to tell until you get it home and can do a complete inventory of the parts pile.
Is the engine out of the car? or just the top end? How long has it sat in the current state?
Lots of questions, naturally, but it sure looks like something to have and if it was a thousand miles closer I'd have my trailer hooked up...

Buy the 55 and put it on a S-10 chassis with a worn but painted 305 SBC!:D
    Just kidding!

What are your plans, budget and skill level?
The 55 could be put back together and driven, if that engine is going to be a money pit another can be found.
That would be the cheapest and easiest.
If you want a hot rod, building the red ram and adding stuff like multi carbs, cam and compression can add up fast. Then you have to deal with the trans, rear and brakes.
More down time, searching, building and money.

The 41 can be built with a donor vehicle or parts collected.
Probably the most expensive, since you'd want to do a full drivetrain, wiring, brakes.

I have a 1940 and a 1955 (both 4 door Plymouths). The 40 turns heads and gets alot of waves, hollars, and thumbs up. But the 55 handles much better on the road. Also, suicide doors are cool, but regular 4 doors are not soo hot.

This is odd but if the 55 has a 6 cylinder and manual trans the 2 cars are practically the same mechanically. They were still using the same old flathead six, king pin front suspension, left hand threads on the wheels, tapered rear axles, they even both had 6V + ground electrical systems.

The 55 was faster, nicer to drive and more at home on today's roads. But there was not a hell of a lot of difference.

Either would be good, very much a matter of choice.

Re: losing all the deals. I suppose if you don't have a mind of your own you have to come here and borrow somebody else's. But it does waste time.
