I have a pair of California black plates that need restoration. One is pretty straight but the other is banged up and needs some metal working. Both need repainting. Is there a place I can bring them to in SoCal? Thx.

There is (or at least was) a guy in Bend Oregon that does exact restorations on license plates. Do a Google search.

There is a license plate guy at the LB and probably Pomona swap that will restore them, but he is not cheap.

FWIW, I searched this site and read all the HAMB vendors. All I could find were some threads showing how to do it yourself. I'm too old and too cranky to try it myself -- plus I just don't have the time. Thanks to anyone who has responded with a referral ... or will respond.

John, you do license plates? Funny, I remember reading about your shop in Az. You did the reverse Calif exodus.

Doe's anyone have experience with running a repop plate? I too need my 1963 black plates restored, but could I have a couple of yellow 1959 repop plates made up with my license plate number and run them on the car?

I know it would not be legal, but would it work?
