Need Help Identifying These Wheels

black ones look to be later model spares.. the red ones look like model aa truck.

 

the black one has 6 lug nuts , i'm thinking maybe off a tractor?

 

The red ones look like Ford AA wheels- the black ones are modern spares (I think I remember reading the article on that Bug).

 

AA's have a wider bolt pattern, at least mine does.

 

If you look at the blown up pic, the red wheel has an adapter plate on it. you can also see some of the original bolt pattern behind the plate (much larger pattern).

 

and plenty of meat to re-drill any bolt pattern..

 

Modern spare for what car?

That red wheel is just some old truck wheel put on backwards to clear the chassis. More offset backwards.

 

Ugly, thats what they are.

 

The grey wheels are from a 1946 TE-A-20 Massey Ferguson Tractor. Dunno if they had these in the States, but here in Oz, every farmer had a little grey Fergie back in the day. I learnt to drive on one of these some 46 years ago....

 

Greg, what size are those front wheels from the "Fergie"?

 

There was a hot rodded 1947 Fergie - candy red with 'Fergie' in gold leaf on the side of the hood - I saw it at the NSRA Western Nats in 1980 - still have a photo of it but my scanner is broken.

 

So it looks like you can re-drill for smaller patterns.

How would you know where to drill insuring your dead center?

 

Make a bushing, to fit the center register, and lay out your pattern from the center...............................Or take them to A machine shop, and let them deal with it.....................

 

the black one is a spare for sure and think the red one is too.. 5-25 dollars at the junk yard just start looking under the vans and youll find em ... and they are normally 16's
