I don't get why some dudes refer to perfectly decent rides as r@t r0ds.

Just a question , or mabye just a different view , the rat rod , and I am not looking for any drama or arguments , most of the time , is pre-64 model , right? , which is the cut off line , right? , what if someone wants the rat rod to make into a car to their liking , but, the car isnt allowed because the choice few dont like it cuz it aint shiny , has cobwebs , and the like , I wud bet , that most of the cars that have been done around where I live , and where you do too , problably didnt even register as a rat rod when you found them out in the woods , or in the barn , etc., but , they are nice cars now , it just seems to me that if the car is a , lets just say , a 36 chevy coupe , it should be allowed on the classifieds section , even if it is a rat rod , just because someone may be interested in the said car to make a real nice car out of .....just my .02 , dont want any flack , just another point of view to consider..

 

They could put please save this poor auto gone astray, it knows not what it hath become, the devil's elixer must be excercised from it. hehe.

Has this been such a huge problem that it needs to be addressed with its own rule?

Rat Rod is just another goofy label. Unfortunately, it's been abused to the point of idiocy, seems to attract the same, and that's just not what this place is about.

If you simply HAVE to call your car a rat rod, or cannot go another day without talking about rat rods, you probably won't be real happy here.

My wife's 59 has a spider web painted on it, does that mean I HAVE to call it a rat rod?

It was a goofy title from the very first car they used it for.

And as a "build style" , it fortunately doesnt fit here.

We like to concentrate on Traditional Hot Rods, and Traditional Customs.


I've been Deleting Rat Rods from the Main Board for quite a while, wheither they were called that by the owner/builder or not.

And I'll keep doing that.


There are other Sites out there that do cater to them.
( and also for Street Rods, BTW...)

 

So when do we outlaw Street Rods and anything with a tilt column? Or anything with parts on it that were produced in the 70s or later? If we just want to get rid of a "goofy label", that's fine, but if we're parading this as a traditional purist site, I think there's a lot of stuff that needs to go away.

The rule says, "IF YOUR DESCRIPTION CONTAINS "RAT ROD" DON'T EVEN POST IT OR IT WILL GET DELETED."

So if someone were going to sell a rat rod, they just have to call it a hot rod and they should be fine?

 

Talking about spiders.

The search engines use spiders to crawl the net looking for the words Rat rod.
Everytime the words Rat rod appear on this site, it attracts Rat Rodders.
The thin end of the wedge will bring in more and more and before you know it,
this site is over run by Rats.

We already delete a lot of Street Rod stuff.

Maybe not enough to your tastes, or too much, but you cant make everybody happy.

The HAMB has its niche as far as the style of Cars we like to concentrate on.
And of course, there are many gray area's...


All in all, its not a big problem.
These are mostly Editorial decissions...


And there is no need to blow any of this out of proportion.
