Here is My wife and myself's build thread

49 Dodge Custom (Cdn built Coronet)

So far the project has been all about trying to get rust repair done and paint before winter sets in. The engine and electrical are coming up next.

yeah i picked up a jag v12 with trans for 50 bucks. I just have to machine the stock EFI intakes to accept either 4 1 bbls carbs or 2 2 bbl carbs.

I think the next step for us is getting this V12 in there from taking some measurements today the most serious problem i am looking at is routing the exhaust . The v12 is 34 " long which means the rad will be relocated. I am really hoping that i will not have to run fenderwell exit exhaust.

Very sweet, I recently sold 2 49 Dodge 4dr Coronets. I also love those Jag V12s.

If you are not going to run a/c you can relo the alternator to the top of the vee. Even if you run a/c you can tuck a small Sanden compressor down where the alternator is supposed to be, run the alt in the vee, and that will clean up the engine bay considerably.

You can also dump the idler pulley junk and simply run an electric fan in front of the stock 49 radiator, which will cool that 12 no problem. There are options for simplifying the coolant flow, so check the Jag forums for options.

In the USA the oil cooler only kicked in when the motor was cold - I kid you not - so you can deep six it or plumb it in correctly; again, check the Jag forums.

When you run your exhausts do not use a crossover. That's V8 stuff - not needed on a 12. Use Ferrari mufflers and resonators - circa 60's vintage - for a sweet sound.

oh yes even though the case is different, inside that tranny is a TH400. You can add shift kits, etc.

got our new kwik wire 8 fuse panel and harness today. this kit look killer very easy to install should be done by next weekend.

  14. I would drill out the firewall and pull the heal plate then adjust to space needed. the trans cross member will need clipped. I moved my firewall back 5 inchs and know body picked it out.

started on the wiring today so far the hurdle has been mounting the fuse box. each wire is labelled so i think even an monkey with an electronics degree like mine can install it.

Yes, the stock sockets have different (no) offset pins. How did you handle it?
