OR, what I did with my summer vacation. I drug all these Gems home and saved them! most if not all these cars were destine to be crushed as scrap and sent to China or just sitting & rusting. what's to far gone will be cut for parts and what's to far gone for most guy's will end up being a great project for me. I save "Rusted Souls" I figured you guy's would like the pics 5 1959 El Caminos 2 1952 chevies 4 door 2 door hard top 1959 brookwood wagon 1961 brookwood wagon 1961 Belair 4 door, got this one to run! 1958 chevy belair 2 door and camera shy- 1965 Galaxie convert & 1953 Caddy 4 door FRITZ
Almost forgot, Got this vintage Dune Buggy also. it sits on a 1957 bug pan with a 1964 40 hp single port engine. anyone know what brand wheels these are? its missing one. FRITZ
Nice, not everyone has the land to build a vintage auto wrecking yard. Good luck with the collection, a few more and lawn cutting time will be cut in half.
I like guys who are undaunted by rust, and glad you have both the space -- and the inclination -- to save a few of these. I'm not really a Model T kinda guy, but a friend called the other day to say he had run onto a `23 TT truck (closed cab) and practically gave it to me. So I'm now beating back 87 years worth of iron oxide and trying to figure out what kind of an addition to my little stable it's gonna become.
you must live west of the mississippi, THOSE CARS ARE RSUT FREE( compared to va cars). grt score man!
that appears to be an "el lobo" buggy, from back in the 60s, we have one that is still on the road and used every summer, lots of fun, especially on the beach... MikeB
I envey your collection. I would love to do the same, but never seem to have any spare money to start one.
I have actually been getting a lot of these for not to much. every one should adopt an unwanted rust bucket, LOL I would love to hear more about the dune buggy! anyone know who made the wheels? FRITZ
OMG---you need help. I saw one of those wagons with my own eyes. Hang on Fritz buddy....I'm sending a crusher over STAT!
Joel, I left North Bellmore 2 year ago and never looked back. Get out while you can they will tax you to death there FRITZ
Fritz I believe they were made by appliance. The only thing Thats giving Me doubt is every set Ive owned were chrome.....JOHN
those are appliance... damnit, i need to work on my dune buggy... shit... and ill adopt on of those el caminos if you ever feel generous LOL...
John; They were painted black at some point in their life. they were chrome at one time. when my Dad Built Dune Buggies he always used wheel adaptors and chrome revers chevy rims. I may go that route also if I keep it Fritz
The wheels are called "Pacers" and they were manufactured by Appliance Wheel. Bruce Meyers (the originator of the fiberglass VW Dune Buggy) hates them; one broke on him in the `1970 Baja 1000, and to this day, he walks with a limp because of it. As far as as what kind of Buggy it is, I don't know, but I can tell you for a fact, that it is NOT an original Meyers Manx. Possibly an EMPI IMP or some variation, by looking at the hood...
Happy to see that you live in a car friendly neighborhood. I'd be typing this from jail if I tried that.
26tudor; I don't think that I'll find another wheel but i wont toss these into the scrap pile to quick. We cut up that 58 belair for the parts we could save. wasn't much left of it. the frame had some nasty rot also. the 61 wagon has even worse rot on the frame but it a bounty of good parts. I'd rather cut them up myself then see the chinese get those good "AMERICAN" parts! FRITZ
She does Nads, I will build one of the Camino's for here as a gift for when all her Cancer & chemo crap is over with. FRITZ
