sbc thermostat housing - straight up??

    Is there a thermo housing for a sbc that goes straight up?? where, how do I get one if so?? thanks-

    There at 7-11 to the right of the Slurpee machine.
    If they are sold out, go to an auto parts store and get a CAST IRON one,
    try a 1968 Chevelle with a small block, for the chimp to punch into his brain box of knowledge.

    I have one in the coupe, I think it came off of a 4.3L V-6 in an S-10 or Astro Van.

    S-10 sounds about right. I always get a 4.3 liter one for SBC, they seem to hold up better. Go cast Iron, My buddy went through 2 aluminum/pot metal ones on his inline.

    Yeah now I remember! I used the Astro t-stat housing when I put a v-8 in an S-10.

    I'm on my second cheapo Mr. Gasket with the O-ring and no matter what I do it won't stop leaking. I gotta get an OEM one, thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

    Also the straight ups came from 318 mopars in the seventys we used !

    a painted cast iron one will last a long time......I got about 7 yrs out of a chrome potmetal autozone cheapy...it always leaked btw.

    Around 1987 or 1988 vans have them I have one That im using on my build All I can remember about the van is it was a 305 with throttle body injection ,Im using the motor for a mockup mptor in my 29 .....And also it had serpentine belts

    i built my own. Only took like 30 min. Piece of pipe, a piece of steel, some holes and some welding.
